Questions for people who do yoga at home

I'm one of those people who goes to a yoga class once a week but never practices at home. I'd like to do more but it'd get expensive.

For those of you who do yoga at home, do you get the same feeling? You know at the end of the class when you feel so relaxed and don't want to get up, do you get that feeling if you do one of those Yoga With Adrienne videos? For those of you who do 20-30 minutes, can you really get the same benefits as with an hour long class?

Hi Tectonic

Have to say, I've done both over the years and never get quite the same nap feeling of deep relaxation at the end as I do in a class. However, that's probably down to me not giving it my all. It's too easy to think of something else I should be doing while lying on my living room carpet. So in that respect I think a class is worth paying for.

Maybe though if it's a case of investing enough to make you really give it the time, you could buy a nice relaxing oil burner thing or some fancy yoga gear. Might help you get properly 'in the zone'. (Or in the zen, even).

Would be interested to hear about any really good yoga videos anyone has tried though, that have the snooze effect at the end.

My very best yoga dvd is a Shiva Rea one, she does the full relaxation at the end, unfortunately I always give up on the poses half way through as they get too complicated so I just sit down at that point and watch in awe.

I have the Pocket Yoga app. It's pretty good. I love Adrienne but she does talk slot!

Talk slot! Talk a lot. Confused

Not a yoga thing per se, but try the app Insight Timer; it's for meditation and includes lots of guided relaxation things. I actually only use it as an end-of-meditation timer so can't personally recommend any, but there seems to be a huge choice. I believe you can choose to pay for 'premium' membership and presumably a wider choice but there are a lot for free.
