What is this song? Losing my mind ...

Male singer, slow grunge-y emo type balland, yearning vocals, slow build, melodic, quite up and down in the tones. Similar to Radiohead's Talk Show Host but less rock-y.
"I want to be ... la la la la la la" or similar vocals in the hook.
It may have been used in a recent TV programme or trailer, it's kind of spooky. Please can you help?!

Or maybe numb ? Most of their songs start off slow ballad type and then go more scary and with different vocals like you said..
stupidis · 18/05/2019 14:53

Definitely this!

Could it be something by Placebo?

Itwontrainallthetime · 18/05/2019 15:20

Somebody Else - The 1975

ItProtectsMyHead · 18/05/2019 16:31

Sorry if this is a bit random or already been ruled out, but the first song that came into my head when I read OP's first few posts was This Is A Low by Blur

SwedishEdith · 18/05/2019 19:31

Is it this? After not hearing it for ages, I've heard it twice on 6Music in the last few days.

McAlmont and Butler - Yes.

ichifanny · 18/05/2019 19:44

Muse Newborn ?

WillowintheUK · 18/05/2019 21:39

Look after you - Aron Wright?

DoxxedFox · 18/05/2019 21:45

I thought that too, Willow.

le1la · 19/05/2019 20:36

@willowintheUK @DoxxedFox - someone else suggested that a few pages ago because it’s on the Lloyds ad right now but OP said no Sad

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 19/05/2019 22:28

Going through all those suggested, thank you!
It's sort of gone out of my head now which is almost equally annoing.

Wishes - no, too quick, but melody not far off!
Not Loyds, Not Capaldi but thanks!
Fly Away, Lenny Kravitz - no, too rocky and fast, sorry.
Vance Joy Riptide - damn that is close! Not the one though, too fast, too aucustic.
Detectorists theme - lovely, lovely and really not far off! But again too fast and too aucustic.
Alt-J, noted, great discovery, will listen through tracks. Matilda is CLOSE but too quick! What's their biggest hit? So unlikely for me to come across anything not-mainstream (sad I know).
Twenty One Pilots - Goner - Super close. Super close. Weare getting there. I love you all. Damn, this could even ... be it?
Twenty One Pilots - Before You Start Your Day - again, super close.
Jack Savoretti - Candlelight - Super close!! If it had more of a Moto Boy-type production. All that up-and-down melodic-ness.
Yungblud & Halsey - I Will Follow You Into the Dark - Really close again! And lovely! How are you all this good?
Michael K - Cold Little Heart - It's fucking great. It's close. It's also too much soul. (if there was ever such a thing)
Linkin Park Crawling, Numb - No, sorry, too "angry"
Kodaline, All I want - ticks a lot of boxes but hook not the same
Placebo - will have to check out some tracks, thanks
The 1975, no sorry!
Blur, This is a Low - VERY good! Nut not the one. Wouldn't have though of it myself.
McAlmot & Butler - It's eerily good and close but too quick.
Sorry if I missed someone, sorry about spellings. I'm really grateful!
It WILL happen.
And I'm going to feel awful if it transpires to be a bloody 70s song with a female vocalist.

Is it James Blake?

Alittlepotofrosie · 19/05/2019 23:25

Something by Myles Kennedy?

Worsethingshappenatsea · 19/05/2019 23:37

Rag n bone man Human ?

OhMsBeliever · 19/05/2019 23:51

Anathema by twenty one pilots?

BabloHoney · 20/05/2019 14:32

Are you sure it's not a later Radiohead song? Some of the tracks from Moon Shaped Pool do sound like the older days of Talk Show Host..

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 20/05/2019 22:11

James Blake close but no, but the right sound.
Myles Kennedy - I like it! *misses point of my own goddamn thread
Also can't find a song of his called Something?
Human Rag & Bone Man - great. Close. But no.
anathema - twenty one pilots - great but no.
BabloHoney I'm not sure of anything! I will check it out. But my feeling is that the voice is a bit more cutesy than Thom's, if that makes sense.
Thanks all!

P.S: There's also a whiff of Divine Comedy's Everybody Knows about my earworm. Similarly melodic, but a more wistful and contemporary sound.
Still haven't been able to hum since I just can't remember it properly any more, but I will def. know when I hear it, sounds weird but I promise! Kicking myself for not just recording my humming on my phone last week.

Gavin Degraw - I don't want to be !?!?

Seaandsand83 · 20/05/2019 22:32

Which was the theme tune to One Tree Hill

Propertywoes · 21/05/2019 17:01

Something by bad wolves? Or disturbed?

marriedthegambler · 22/05/2019 21:02

Have you been watching the infiltrator?

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 22/05/2019 22:46

Haven't been watching the Infiltrator, checking out the above tomorrow, thank you!
(Was in a shopping centre today with the Shazam app constantly at the ready, just in case ...)
