I’m going to lose my dog and I’m lost

I’ve name changed, I’ve been here for quite some years, hoping to become a mum but sadly, this has not happened. I am single and low income due to an acquired disability in recent years. The last few years have been awful but I’ve had my dog by my side. He’s currently at the vet, undergoing treatment for pain relief, but unlikely to survive this illness and I’m devastated.

I’ve lost my chance to be a mum, my relationship, my good income, a lot of my social life and now my dog.

I am so lonely and sad.

I'm so sorry, I really hope DDog pulls through. We lost our 13 year old labrador a couple of months ago and it is just devastating Flowers

StandardPoodle · 13/05/2019 19:09

I'm so sorry - what an awful time for you.
We lost our 12 year old rescue girl in January and it still hurts so much.
Sending positive thoughts to you and your dog.

RaininSummer · 13/05/2019 19:18

That is so sad. You have had a lot of tough stuff to deal with. Take care of yourself.

Mayalready · 13/05/2019 19:22

My poor ddog is very ill too op. It's so very difficult when they have been a loyal and trusting friend. My ddog has seen me through some awful times these last ten years just about. I have dc but no family /friends and it's tough staying strong.
It's my dgm's anniversary today - hoping she is sending me good vibes (and to ddog too) from wherever she may be.
I have had some good loving chats with ddog lately, even said my goodbyes once or twice. Embrace every moment op.
Regards.

I'm so sorry to hear this, OP. It's always hard to lose a much loved pet, but on top of everything else you've had happen it must be devastating.

Sending you hugs and wishing you strength Flowers.

Candycats · 13/05/2019 19:41

Thanks I'm so sorry. It sounds cliched but they really do take up a huge space in your heart. Really hoping your dog pulls through.

Angie169 · 13/05/2019 21:36

Sending you and Ddog lucky dust and hugs.
I had to have my Ddog put to sleep last year , I still miss him

HeartbrokenDogOwner · 13/05/2019 22:20

Thank you, all. I’m sorry for those who have been through this.
Sorry I can’t say more, I’m emotional tonight. I think I need some sleep and a clearer mind for tomorrow for my doggy.

Thank you, he has cancer. I never knew it was possible to cry so many tears. He’s still with us but I think he’ll be put to sleep to spare him pain and misery. This hurts so much. 💔💔💔

bloodywhitecat · 14/05/2019 07:58

I think it is one of the hardest things we do when we take that step to put to sleep, sending you love and strength across the miles because I still remember the day I took the same decision for my beautiful black Lab.

Singlenotsingle · 14/05/2019 07:59

It's amazing how much we love our dogs. I never knew until I got one. All good wishes, I hope he pulls through.

Dowser · 14/05/2019 08:36

Why is it when one bad thing happens, it’s followed by more and more...as if the one bad thing isn’t enough.

I’m so sorry to hear what has happened to you...I can only say that having been through the shittiest of times in 2004, 2005 6, 7 and 8; just to hang on in there.

Cry your tears. Let out the grief, maybe have some counselling if you feel that would help but hang on in there.
My life changed dramatically in 2008 when I met my second husband.
There were still shitty times till my exh was well and truly out of ,y life but I was past caring by then as I was having /we were having so much fun.

Losing a pet is so hard. There’s no way to sugar coat it. I went away on holiday and my beloeved Sophie was put to sleep...she had a kidney problem. I was devastated too. Never got to say goodbye.
I love animals but can’t have another one.

Hang on in there...it does get better...eventually.

ReganSomerset · 14/05/2019 08:53

Oh no. I'm so sorry, OP. Flowers

A remember being told as a child that luck runs in circles, so at the bottom of your circle you get a load of bad luck, but after the worst bit it gets better. I hope you'll be on the up again after this.

spiderlight · 14/05/2019 09:08

Oh, I am so sorry. We lost one of ours to cancer just four days after her diagnosis and it was heartbreaking. Sending you a handhold and a huge unMumsnetty hug Flowers

FiremanKing · 14/05/2019 09:34

Heartbreaking. I hope you find some comfort in your memories and of knowing you have your lovely dog a very happy life.
