I have SO many happy memories of watching her films with my mum when I was a wee girl.

Seeing her sing Secret Love from Calamity Jane made me love musicals since then.

Aw. May she rest in peace.

She was the epitome of fabulous and what an amazing legacy she has left the world with.

One of my all time favourite actresses and I hope she knew how much she was thought of.

My DF is a massive fan, and had quite a large collection of memorabilia. He was a member of the UK DD fan club, and she would call in occasionally when they had their meetings for a chat with them. She would also sign anything if it stood still long enough, she wasn't precious about her autograph and all you had to do was post the memorabilia and she would sign and return.

Possibly the last Hollywood icon, who to the end appreciated her fans. RIP Doris

Did anyone really watch Calamity Jane back in the day and not think it ever so Lezzie?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 13/05/2019 19:06

From what I’ve heard she was a really nice person (unlucky in love though) who wasn’t precious or diva-ish (please no one tell my otherwise).

Oh so sad to hear it ! I love Calamity Jane and it is my daughters favourite film. She even had a Calamity themed 21 st birthday party.
Very sad news .

RomanyQueen1 · 13/05/2019 19:15

She was an amazing woman and a gay icon for Secret Love.
What a lovely age though
RIP DD and whip crack away to those Black Hills of Dakota Thanks

I'm not usually one for being fussed about celebs passing away but this has genuinely saddened me today.

I still have the calamity Jane soundtrack on cassette in my box of teenage crap mementos in my mums attic.

SammySamSam09 · 13/05/2019 19:15

Oh this makes me so sad.

IndigoSpritz · 13/05/2019 19:30

She has whipped, cracked and awayed. Good innings, tho'.

Redcrayons · 13/05/2019 19:33

I was so sad to hear this today, Calamity Jane has never been out of my top 10 list since I saw it as a teenager many many years ago.
