How many towels per person!

I'm in a mode of decluttering. We have bundles of towels beyond their best. I don't want to replace all of them.
So I'm trying to work out how many towels we actually need each?

@LoafofSellotape any chance of a picture or two of your towel baskets? Like the idea of that but struggling to picture it/size etc

We have 4 sets each and there are 3 gym/swimming ones.

However I have lots of spares packed away. I do like towels, I arrange them on shelves so that the colours look good together.

IKEA hand towels are a good size for hair towels, they are bigger than a lot of other hand towels.

Don’t do it!
If you get rid of your old towels you will immediately all go down with norovirus and then the same night your bathroom will flood and your ceiling cave in and you’ll be kneeling weeping on the floor at 2am using your lovely new towels to sort it all out...

Er I own about 6 bath towels and 4 hand towels. For three of us. We share - DDs use them at night and I use for shower in morning. Change when they get a bit smelly. Not even once a week. Nothing bad has ever happened as a result of this. Guests get whatever ones are clean.

Tingface that is one of my fears. I ditch a load and suddenly need them.

Ok so 2 each seems average. Thanks for the comment about guests. I should keep some for them too.

And we have a toddler who's starting to outgrow the baby towels so I was thinking about her too. Not to mention we still have to potty train.

All in this hasn't really helped me reduce the number of towels we actually have. I think I'll replace some and keep the best of what we have as spares.
