There are two crickets loose in my house

And it's like living in a bloody rainforest.

I'm always secretly quite pleased when they escape death by lizard. You would think that they would appreciate their freedom and hop out off the nearest door to the great outside.
But no, there is one in the utility room and one in the conservatory. I'm in bed and can hear them chirruping from here.
How the hell can such little things make so much noise?

We switched to locusts for this reason!! A bit more expensive but they make no noise. I'm not so squeamish about picking up any loose ones either as they're prettier than crickets!!

I was going to say move then I realised you had lizards.
Can't you let the lizard loose?

ineedaknittedhat · 13/05/2019 09:45

I have to buy a tub full of them, but I only have two tarantulas left after my males died off. I have them chirping constantly (I think they do it in shifts) and it drives us mad.

I can send you some cellar spiders, they'll eat anything. They even ate Albert, the ginormous spider that used to live in the bathroom.

Did you know that it's only the females who chirp?

Always makes me smile when I take the tub of 'extra large silent crickets' to the till & they are making more noise than my phone alarm.

I decided to get an extra tarantula (have 5 now) just to get through the crickets a bit quicker!

I have 14 tarantulas and one of them likes to give her meals Stockholm syndrome. She invites them in her lair and won't let me get them out, where she then allows them to seranade the house and they all chill for ages until she decides to eat them which Being a chile Rose is rarely Hmm

Reading this thread is a bit like having a nightmare.

Jjacobb · 13/05/2019 22:06

Not just me then 😀

TheInebriate thanks for your very kind offer but just the thought makes me cringe.
And the rest of you with all the tarantulas, why just why.
Ds does have one baby tarantula but it's under lock and key and if it ever escapes I'm burning the house down. I do love the lizards though,
They don't make a sound during the day. As soon as I sit down in the evening off they go all bloody night.
How long can they live trapped behind a washing machine with only dust bunnies to eat I wonder?
