Preschool jabs tomorrow and I'm so nervous! Any tips?

I am really quite nervous about these jabs tomorrow. It's been a long time since his last jabs and I've got visions of having to pin him to the bed while he screams the place down! I'm going to give him calpol 30 mins before appointment, but any other advice?

Any positive stories about how your child didn't even notice greatly appreciated!

I explained to dd that there would be a little ouch, but that it was really important so she didn't get very poorly when she went to school. I then gave her a pot of jelly beans while they were doing it and let her eat them. She barely looked up. It was nowhere near as bad as I thought. She knew what was coming, but she was more interested in the jelly beans. No tears at all.

With my eldest two I took sweets with me and cracked them open as the injection went in and neither batted an eyelid.

Youngest....he's a dramatic one....2 months later and he is still telling people the two nasty ladies stabbed him and they weren't nice nor will he let daddy take him to the drs 😂

Honestly, some kids just won't be played or bribed!

Fingers crossed yours is like my older 2.

The doc gave my kids sweeties and said ‘don’t bite it til I say so’ and as he was about to put the needle in he said ‘ok go!’. After that my son kept saying he thought it was time for his next lot of shots...

Yep, same as everyone else - take his favourite treat and get it out just before he’s about to have the injections. My son was so fixated on getting his kinder egg that he didn’t even realise it had happened!

Pre school jabs? My dd2 is 2.5 have I missed one?

troppibambini · 12/05/2019 22:08

Yep sweets or his favourite treats. I told mine they were going for a check up and then told them them they would have a little scratch once we were in the waiting room.
Puma84 no you've not missed it, I think it's around 3 years 8 months but happy to be corrected!

Thank you everyone, will definitely take sweets!

They have them from 3 and 4 months, it's got the details in their red book.
