Libby library app for my 11 year old daughter on a Kindle fire?

I've downloaded this app for reading library books on to her Hudl tablet and it looks good but if I give her the tablet to read in bed I'm worried she'll play games or watch YouTube!
I've read that you can install the app on a Kindle fire so I might get one of those ... but I'm not sure if she will be able to surf the internet or play games on a Kindle fire? I've never had one of those.
Any advice?

Get her a normal kindle for reading - they're specially lit not to interfere with sleep.
Then she can continue using her tablet/laptop for playing.
Reader can stay in her room at night (as it only does books), tablet subject to house electronic rules.
Kindle fire is just a rubbish tablet. Better tablets can have the kindle app on them, and do more things.

There was another thread somewhere about the Libby app not working on normal kindles outside of the US. Our library has their own portal for their ebooks but not tried them on my Kindle, there may be one compatible?

I only want to buy a Kindle if I can run the Libby app on it.

It's such a shame the UK aren't the same as the US.

Go to the child settings and adjust it so that she can only use educational apps and also set a time limit and a bedtime on there.
