White stuff at ends of sausages

Bought sausages well in date from Asda. When I put them on a tray to go in the oven, I noticed little white bits at the ends. Presuming this is fat?

Anyone?

or the skin that holds the sausage together, where it has been drawn in and twisted before it is cut.
