Hi, we have an elderly relative who loves in Colchester. We all live away and need to help sort him into assisted living pretty quickly. He is partially sighted and on oxygen, he currently lives in a flat independently on his own but has stairs. He doesn’t have a cleaner or carer, but he is likely to need help pretty quickly, but wants to remain independent for as long as possible.
We’re going up next weekend to try and help, so if anyone has any suggestions of any places/facilities that would be worth visiting/recommending we would be very grateful. Or anywhere to avoid. Will be doing our own research but local knowledge would be very much appreciated.
He’ll be renting out his flat to help pay the costs and he won’t entertain a residential home etc, and doesn’t need that yet, so we’re thinking someone like sheltered accommodation/assisted living, where he can have his own 1 bedroom flat, but there is the option for shared evening meals/cleaner/carer options you can add it as needed.
