Gorgeous sunny day here
Currently drinking coffee in Starbucks and trying to get my arse in gear to do a food shop as we are barbecuing tonight

I’m being lazy today. Even though it is only 24 days since the last one my period has started. It is heavy and painful. Plus I had awful dizziness earlier. H is in a bad mood with me - very short and snappy angry answers. I’ve tried asking what is wrong and he just reverses. Oh and he can’t believe I’m on my period either. At least he has gone out. Anyway managed to get the uniforms washed and out to dry. Fed the children. That’s it today. Although I might go out and plant a couple of annuals. Weather is lovely.

Have a lovely day everyone.

Currently sat in soft play, can't wait for nap time! Will probably go park later, blitz house and would like to finish my book today

Flapjackninja · 12/05/2019 12:32

Doing everything I can to put off revising for an exam in 8 days! Currently in the garden in my pyjamas eating Rice Krispies Hmm

gingajewel · 12/05/2019 12:39

We were up at 8.00 and I did the ironing then cleaned out the kids Ikea boxes ( 5 black bags full or rubbish!!) then went to aldi and my oh took eldest dd to dance. I have just been out and had a run and am now sitting on the sofa with youngest dd watching peppa pig! Doing a chicken salad for tea but for the next few hours I plan to do not a lot in the garden and enjoy the sunshine! I no mumsnet hate them but hot tub is warming up for later and I’m looking forward to a dip when kids are in bed!

Deadringer · 12/05/2019 12:40

Lovely day so I can no longer put off tackling the back garden. Some of the weeds are taller than me at this stage!

Slaymill · 12/05/2019 12:41

Trying to muster enough energy to cut the grass

@CakeNinja I would love the recipe too!

Cockadoodledooo · 12/05/2019 12:49

Sod all. Exhausted and in pain, yet again, so still in bed.

Just watched the Railway Children with ds2 though which was lovely.

happyhillock · 12/05/2019 12:53

Having quite a lazy day, will put chicken in oven in a couple of hour's for dinner, that's about all i intend to do today .

Iwantacookie · 12/05/2019 12:58

Not long got back from ds2 football match. Made everyone some sandwiches. Teens not back till tea time ds2 is off out to play dp keeps hinting about wanting to play xbox so guess I'm cleaning up by myself.
I'm trying to ignore grass cutting until tomorrow.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 12/05/2019 13:05

Food shop done
DH is out, DS3 is away til 5, DS2 is revising
Drop DD to rehearsal in a bit and then back to clean and sort laundry before we barbecue
Ah the peace couldn't last Grin

Been for walk in the woods, planting up some pots in the garden, laundry, catching up with friends via messenger, just making beds now. DD FaceTimed me from the beach in Cyprus where she works 🏝😍😫 and now I think it's time to book flights for a visit!

NorthernPowermouse · 12/05/2019 14:42

Up early with the DCs, played for hours while waiting for hungover DP to get up. He eventually did, but then went back to bed after half an hour Hmm.

Cooked a roast which I think sorted him out and now he’s taken them out for a walk before the footy comes on. I currently have a den, a farm and a train track in my living room, and an easel (and plenty of ‘masterpieces’) in my kitchen so some tidying will have to be done at some point as well. Right now I’m enjoying the peace with a cuppa though.

CakeNinja · 12/05/2019 17:14

Oh it’s the easiest recipe in the world and the whole thing was demolished!
I’ll see if I can link to it, the secret is to use really good eggs and butter, and to cream it together thoroughly!

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/4942/lemon-drizzle-cake%3famp

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 12/05/2019 17:46

@CakeNinja Thank you for the link and help! Smile
what is 'softened' butter - butter at room temperature? Or something special? caster sugar - translates as Puderzucker - so very fine?
I'll have to go to my Chinese supermarket to get "selfraising flour" or use 1/2 pack of backing powder (500 / 1 = 225 / 0,5)?
eggs - no problem here, from a chicken Smile

CakeNinja · 12/05/2019 18:33

Yes, ‘room temperature’ is a bit vague really. I left a packet out on the side overnight. Ideally it should be soft enough to poke and leave an indentation but not greasy and squishy enough that the fats separate and leave your finger with a greasy coating!
A bit like the consistency of play dough I suppose!
And be careful it’s not powdered sugar, caster sugar is between granulated and icing sugar.

Slaymill · 12/05/2019 19:01

@CakeNinja Flowers

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 12/05/2019 19:12

@CakeNinja
the butter - all clear here, that's "zimmerwarm" in bake speak
icing sugar translates as Puderzucker as well - I'll try "feine Raffinade".
(oh, the linguistics of it all!)
