Do you actually love your best mate?

I do with mine. I’ve known her since I was nine years old (cracking on 40 now)

She is the only person that knows me. Both picked each other up from shite situations both tell each other off. It’s really hard to explain with it looking like we are in love with each other Grin

Is any body else this close to some some one?

Dh thinks we are weird Grin

I love mine like a sister. We have been friends for 44 years. She is much nicer than me, so I am very lucky.

IamHyouweegobshite · 11/05/2019 22:44

Mine is the sister I never had. Best friends for 30 years. Been through great times and truly awful times. I love her so much.

LittleCandle · 11/05/2019 22:46

Yes, I love all my closest friends. My oldest friend and I have been friends since we were 7 and we're turning 54 this year. (She's already turned 54 and I'm still a year younger Grin). Men often don't understand close female friendships. My XH certainly had no clue about a lot of things.

BestIsWest · 11/05/2019 22:48

Yes. We’ve been friends since age 12, 44 years ago, when she rescued me. I owe her my amazing fun teenage years. We live 200 miles apart now but are in contact most days. I last saw her on Easter Sunday and it was like being 15 again. I really do love her.

GunpowderGelatine · 11/05/2019 22:49

Yes, I love her more than many family members. We don't see each other that often (life, kids, work etc) but when we do it's like we've never spent a day apart

MrsMozartMkII · 11/05/2019 22:49

Yes. Cried when we moved away from one.

Have four really close ones. They mean the world to me and I'd go to the ends of the earth for them, as they would for me.

WhatOnPlanetEarth · 11/05/2019 22:49

Absolutely yes 100%

Justkeeprollingalong · 11/05/2019 22:49

My best friend of 45 years is the best. We hardly ever see each other but she is just always there when I need her. I love her and she loves me. Simples.

madeofstarlight · 11/05/2019 22:53

100%. She's probably my favourite person on the planet, I adore her.

Aceinthehole · 11/05/2019 22:53

YES! I call her my lifeboat xxx

haverhill · 11/05/2019 22:56

Yes, I have 5 friends I care very deeply about and I definitely love 2 of them.

BestIsWest · 11/05/2019 22:56

As well as my best friend, I have a little group of friends that I worked with for about 20 years. We haven’t worked together for 10 years now but they are very, very special people to me. We probably get together a few times a year although we are in regular contact. As another one of them says, they are family we’ve chosen. On of them is going through a tough time right now and I told her just last week not to forget how much we all love her. Because we do.

aatwi · 11/05/2019 22:59

More than I love anyone else! She's like my sister.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 11/05/2019 23:02

Yes. Love her like a sister

Bangingdoors · 11/05/2019 23:02

Yes I properly love three of my best friends whom I've been friends with since childhood.
I've other friends I really really like and care about, it's possible I love them too but not as deeply.

Peakypolly · 11/05/2019 23:03

I am going through some trauma at the moment that I am unable to speak about outside of my immediate family in order to respect the wishes of a loved one.
I am astounded that I have broken down in tears a few times not over the issue, but because I cannot talk openly to my best friend (of 25 years) about the situation. It has brought home to me how much I need her.

Rainbowlampshade · 11/05/2019 23:04

Oh I love these! It’s not just me then! Grin

I feel really lucky to have such a connection like this. I hope my dd finds some like this too. I stole her off her friend in primary school one summer. I can remember us washing our hair in the new Timotei shampoo and riding our bikes!

She really is that person I can ring when everything is crashing.

Her Dh doesn’t like her staying over too much because he worries she will discuss their relationship. But I don’t care! And always ask!

Yes. She died 6 years ago and I still miss her, but comfort myself with the fact my ds has a kickass guardian angel up there.

DrBuckles · 11/05/2019 23:05

I do. She lives very far away now and I miss her so much, WhatsApp and stuff just isn’t the same. Just the day to day popping in to see her etc.

She’s recently had a baby and i’ve been a bit surprised by how I utterly and intensely love her baby, more so than my actual nieces and nephews Blush (I’d only admit that here)

Rainbowlampshade · 11/05/2019 23:18

Pash I’m sorry about that. I’d be in a bad way if mine went Flowers

OP posts:
Rainbowlampshade · 11/05/2019 23:21

Dr same here. One of the reasons DH thinks I’m weird!

OP posts:
Gertie75 · 11/05/2019 23:24

Absolutely, she's better than a sister because we choose to be close, I see her most weeks, sometimes a couple of times and I'd be lost without her.

We're going to a garden centre tomorrow then me, her and my kids are going to my caravan next weekend.

She is the kindest person on earth and so clever too, I'm very lucky to have a best friend and think those who haven't are really missing out.

lastqueenofscotland · 11/05/2019 23:58

God yes
She’s like a sister and my mum calls her family and almost sees her as a fourth child. Both her parents had sadly died by the time she was 19 and she used to come and stay with us in uni term time breaks and lived with my mum for a year while she was sorting out inheritance and buying a flat at 20/21!

Thisnamechanger · 12/05/2019 00:00

I'm lucky enough to have two. My "gay husband" lives abroad now and my insane girlfriend still live nearby. Id walk through fire for the pair if them.

StCharlotte · 12/05/2019 00:05

I love mine like a sister. We have been friends for 44 years. She is much nicer than me, so I am very lucky.

This to a tee, except I love her even more than I love my sisters Grin
