Is a woodburner bad for asthma

I've had a multi fuel stove for years. I usually burn smokeless fuel but I've recently been given some untreated wood off cuts
Over the last few years my asthma has got worse but I put it down to age. I thought the untreated wood would be better environmentally but it does catch my throat and make me feel more out of breath than usual

I should have known better. I used to get terrible asthma attacks when I stayed with a friend who had a coal fired aga
Does anyone know what my best option would be?
