Searching for the perfect beach bag - any advice?

I'm looking for a beach bag for my holidays. That fulfills the following criteria -

Large enough for towels, a couple of books, sun cream and purse/phone

Waterproof, so if I put it on a wet surface like a puddle by the pool the stuff inside doesn't get damp

Wide opening, but with a zip so stuff doesn't fall out if it gets tipped up

Separate pockets so I can find my keys/purse easily.

Not too expensive

Not too fussed about colour, but I don't like stuff with slogans or cartoon characters on

I've looked in Primark, Tesco, Asda, Outfit, New Look and theres nothing that fits all criteria. Can anyone help?

Have a look at H&M - if you're looking online, I'd use 'shopper' as the search term rather than beach bag, which inevitably offers up a load of straw open-top options.

Good point! I don't understand the lack of waterproof bags for something that's gonna be used by a pool. Last year i kept putting my bag down in puddles and my book got all damp and crinkly 🙄

I use a Le Pliage - perfect beach bag and lasts for ever!! Not sure it’s 100% waterproof if it got completely saturated though.

I bought mine from Accessorize. I don't know if they still do them.

I've looked and can't find anything on Accessorize's website. I'd suggest looking at oilcloth tote bags with inside zipped pockets. That's what mine is.

The best thing for the beach is a roll top dry bag designed for water sports.

One of those is not going to be on the cover of vogue though.

It doesn't have to be fashionable. I'll admit I hadn't thought of watersports bags. I'll have a look.
