What is this film about a young woman with AIDS? From the 90s or maybe earlier? Help!

I remember watching it in the 90s or around 2000 with my mum but don't remember the name or any of the actors! It's driving me nuts now.

I remember a scene where her boyfriend is in the shower furiously scrubbing himself after sex, and one where she goes to give a talk to students in a lecture hall about how it doesn't just affect drug users.

This ring a bell for anyone?

Oh I remember this but sadly don’t remember the name! It’s not Gia though although I love that film. I think it was a made for TV movie.

It's the Molly Ringwald one, it contains both of the scenes you describe, a Ringwald fan and seen it more than once.

It is the Molly Ringwald one. That stayed with me too. I think it was based on a true story.
