Is this a suspicious looking mole?

I've had this mole for ages but I seem to think it was smaller than this and also I don't remember it having a lump on it. Now there is a definite lump, in fact I guess it looks a bit like a nipples but obviously very small. I've put a photo against my pinky finger for scale and the 2nd photo to show the lump.

Do I need to get this checked? I'm pregnant and wondered if that could have had an impact on it?

It’s always worth getting these things checked so yes definitely do that. I’ve got one very similar, it’s got a fancy sounding name (which I can’t remember) but the dermatologist said they look like fried eggs and are nothing to worry about.

Dysplastic mole. Thanks google! Still get it looked at though.

Ah I'm just reading about displastic moles now. Also just read about how it's not the length of sun exposure that can change skin cells but the intensity. Now as a kid I played outside a lot online my grandparents garden and did get burnt. And in adult life also been burn a fair few times. Hmm ok will get it checked.

The colouring is not consistent either. I'm worried now!

Try not to worry, I’m covered in moles-all of varying shapes and sizes. Some are dark others light, some a mix. I had a basal cell carcinoma removed a few years ago (type of skin cancer). They just cut it off but I get my skin checked regularly. The only mole they’ve ever removed since was a tiny one that turned almost black. Even that wasn’t cancerous.

This is what gets circulated in Oz as we're in the sun so much.

Having said that, I had a mole checked out a while ago that had changed in size and was itchy. Turns out it's some other type of benign growth and not even a mole. Certainly looks like one though.

My mum has loads of moles and seems to have had more as she geta older. She did live abroad for about 15 years and her dermatologist told her to never ever go out in the sun! I see the same thing happening to me, more and more appear on my arms. Although this one is on my tummy.

Yes, the colouring is patchy and the edges are ill defined. Definitely get it checked but most of the time these moles are harmless. Precancerous at worst. I have one that’s quite similar. I get it looked out every now and then but so far it’s fine. The key is to stay on top of these things.
