First one across the finish line already, absolutely amazing 👏👏 and whilst I'm here why the hell isn't this given more publicity ?? !

Because it’s oop north!
I’ve met loads of people in Kendal etc that don’t know about it.
I can’t get over how popular it is. And the people who do both ways or K2B plus Fred Whitton 😱

I know, it's ridiculous considering how much publicity the London marathon gets. That's nothing compared to the K2B killer. Hell, I've only ever done Coniston and almost died on the first hill 😂😂😂 none of my training could prepare me for the terrain. It was hideous

I know a few under 10s who did the coniston to barrow. 21 miles!

That's really weird OP. Was just thinking last night about it, wondering if it still went on. Used to live in Barrow, but have never heard any mention of it since I left. I was on the verge of googling the route, to see if I had imagined it!

UselessTrees · 11/05/2019 21:33

Two of my teenage nieces decided to do the C2B this year to raise money for a mental health charity after losing a friend to suicide. They live in Barrow but I must admit I hadn't heard of it before. Having looked at the route map I am so impressed that they managed it!

Fishstick · 11/05/2019 21:56

I did it a few times about 20 years ago but I don't think I could manage it now. They had a lovely day for it today.

SkintAsASkintThing · 11/05/2019 21:56

The route is evil, K2B is pure madness. And yet the runners were coming in before I'd even surfaced from my lie in. It's just hill after hill, I know people who have been left with permanent injuries from doing it.

Coniston is bad enough, that in itself is an endurance and little ones do it.

UselessTrees well done to your niece. Barrow has seen a huge spike in suicides recently. I've lost count of the.number since Christmas and that's just people I know of. So many young people with bright futures ahead, it's heartbreaking :(

Shhhhh

Don't tell people about it if they will all want to come. Grin

I agree, anyone who does the Fred Whitton and K2B is hard as fucking nails. I'm amazed all the southern softy MAMILs haven't monopolised and devalued it yet .

SkintAsASkintThing · 11/05/2019 22:44

TheCunbrian I'm still amazed by the guy who did it, had a pint at the cricket club then turned round to walk back to Keswick 😂😂😂

I'm not too worried about the Southern softies trying to take over, they're not hard as nails like us Northerners WinkGrin

I started as a challenge between BAE workers and some Canadians (??) and got so popular that they added in C2B.
Quite hard to get a new team in now. Lots have done 10+ years of it.
Now there’s always some who do it both ways.

Friend is doing lakes walk in a few weeks 105 miles none stop, reckons about 30 hours.

There’s also the Brathay 10 in 10, 10 marathons in 10 days.

Tough up here 😁

SkintAsASkintThing · 12/05/2019 11:13

The foot photos are coming up on the K2B page. Envy

I didn't realise they missed redbank this year, they're all complaining about it. Grin
