Child free for 4 nights - where to go?

DC away for a week in June so for the first time ever DH and I have the opportunity to get away sans enfants for a few nights.

We've had a tough time of late so would like to mainly sit in the sun, drink wine and people watch. Grin

We'd ideally like to go somewhere we've not been before. Considering Dubrovnik or Porto but any other ideas or recommendations welcomed.

Wherever we go, we want to be central so can walk around easily. Not averse to a nice apartment or hotel.

Not Paris, Amsterdam, Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Lisbon, Prague, Rome, Venice, Verona, Palma, Lille, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki, Riga or Tallinn as have been there before.

Ideally near the sea but that's not crucial.

Any recommendations appreciated.

I've not been yet but a few of my mates have recently been to Dubrovnik and it looks amazing - definitely next on my list! I'd stick with your own idea and go there. Hope you have a fabulous time wherever you go Wine

Thank you! I think Dubrovnik is probably top of the list.

Anyone stayed in a central apartment in Dubrovnik they'd recommend?

Stay in Cavtat rather than Dubrovnik itself. Dubrovnik is hellish busy and overpriced, Cavtat is a beautiful town in itself and only a 20 min water taxi to Dubrovnik itself.

Alternative suggestion is either Pula or Rovinj on the Istrian coast of Croatia. Stunning and amazing food.

Adore Croatia, the water is so clear, the food is excellent and the people are lovely. Jealous.

Thanks for that advice Sandra - only concern is that we only have a few nights so don't want to spend ages getting there, and then want to pootle about easily without the need for a car etc. Cavtat sounds like it might be doable though.

Cavtat is actually closer to the airport, so less faff overall
