Stupid flight question!

Hi all;

Thinking of a holiday with my DH and DS who will be 5-6 mo this old; looking at booking flights separately using websites such as Skyscanner and have entered baby's age as 0; my understanding was that babies under a certain age had to be carried on laps but the websites are all charging for a seat for baby. Am I being stupid? Happy to book a package if anyone knows websites where babies travel free!

Skyscanner is just an overlay website. You need to click into the actual airlines and that's where you can enter your infant's details.

I think it will be passenger tax rather than a seat, maybe?

Yea you still need to pay the taxes for the baby.

Having found which airline does the flight you want, I would book using the airline's own website.
