I got an invite through the door. It looks like some kind of local neighbourhood 'share news' thing. Tbh I can't be bothered with the sign-up process. I was told to verify my email & when I did, it then wanted to verify me by phone or post too! I only wanted to have a look & see if it was worthwhile. I can't be arsed with all the hassle upfront. Anyone else know if it's worth it?

Ours is 50% people saying and doing nice things and helping each other.

50% of passive aggressive bitching at each other.

Ours is awful. It has taught me that Landrovers have crap security though as they appear to be stolen from driveways with very little difficulty.

My favourite is the member who posted he was going out for a slap. Up meal to celebrate having sold every unit in the crappy block of pokey flats he'd built on the site of a decent family home. He came in for some, ahem, constrictive criticism. Pops up occasionally but seems unwilling to explain why he always builds at exactly the number of units required to avoid having to have any "affordable" ones.

The amount of personal information given out is disturbing.

Example -

Hi I’m Deirdre and I’ve lived here thirty years with my husband Derek, our dog Lucy who is a very expensive pedigree who is often out in the garden on her own.

We both work long hours and go on holiday for three weeks every July and by the way our front door lock is broken so now we can’t lock the door when we go out so does anyone know a locksmith as we have lots of valuable jewellery and tech stuff.

I joined… and then unjoined as it showed me stuff from far too wide an area and sent me masses of emails

@thecatneuterer

I've just seen this is a Zombie thread ...
It's a repeat Zombie as it's been back a few times since you posted this at the end of 2019 😂😂

Sometimes you get busybody posts which can be amusing.
There was a post on ours recently about some kids who were carrying a large stick about and were told to put it down - Not sure why. So they put it down across the complainers driveway and called them some choice words. Apparently the poster wants to talk to their parents so they can learn some respectHmm.

No, I ignored it.
It seems to me, like other social media's, it could attract drama and who the fudge wants that?!
If I have something to share with my neighbours, I will knock on their door! If they have something ti share with me, they can do the same.
Or in passing....

There's a social media for everything now, however did we manage before?!

Interested in this thread as I just got an invite card in the post.
Alternatively, in our old neighbourhood my very outgoing neighbour bravely knocked on doors all along both sides of the street, asked if anyone wanted to be in a street WhatsApp group. It seemed to work well- can you feed my cat, can you please take a parcel in, I have key to Bob’s house whilst they’re on holiday, we just had this painter in recommends, etc, etc. Then a spontaneous social occasion- does anyone fancy a drink in the street on this nice sunny evening? It didn’t constantly get used, it was actually a nice balance of posts. We’ve since moved away, but I’m tempted to try the same here.
