Childfree time

So my mil picked up ds from school today as he is having a sleepover he will be back tomorrow afternoon. I got the housework done after work and I'm now in my jammies with a glass of wine and my crochet. I plan a lie in and a nice breakfast with hubby but other than that nothing planned. What does everyone else do with their childfree time?

Work is my childfree time but your way sounds better!

We'd probably do similar to you.

House tidied, bath, PJs on, shit dinner and music/drinks or movie/munchies. Lie in noisy sex, breakfast and back to normality :o

BooseysMom · 10/05/2019 20:00

Yes work is a lovely escape from the house, DH and DS! It can be really trying being the only female in the house. Right now I'm lying in bed while DH and DS are downstairs watching tv. I love going to bed at 7pm these days! Along with work 3 days a week, bed is my child-free time. When DS is at school and I'm at home I have to put up with DH who is here all the time atm. So that doesn't count as child free time as he's there..lol

I work with children so never free of them lol

My husband and I are going away for 2.5 weeks in July. On our own!!!!!! as my son is off to America with the scouts for over three weeks.

I can’t even stand the waiting for it anymore.
First holiday on our own for over 15 years. Will someone please tell me what adults do on holiday when they don’t have to keep children occupied. ????????

mrssoap · 10/05/2019 20:32

No idea, single parent to 4 kids, I don't get any free time 😩. But if I did, I'd probably do what your doing lol

BikeRunSki · 10/05/2019 20:34

Drive to work
Be at work
Catch up on work when the children are in bed

That is my child free time

EleanorLavish · 10/05/2019 20:36

Catch up on noisy sex?
Go to the pub in the afternoon?
Spend time in peace and quiet in museums and gardens without listening to muttering of boredom?
Spend most of the time talking or thinking of DC and how much you miss them?

CatToddlerUprising · 10/05/2019 20:36

Crochet, coffee and catching up on box sets

Morgan12 · 10/05/2019 20:38

Have sex. Invite friends over. Drink gin till stupid o'clock.

Allyg1185 · 10/05/2019 20:53

All sound like good ideas

Ride my horses, look after my horses, have conversations with said horses and believe they can understand.

Go to wales to our holiday place but it does feel quiet and I'm single so it's a bit lonely. Lots of Netflix - at least I have the dog too!

BooseysMom · 11/05/2019 07:02

@Dontgiveamonkeys1350.. Wow, 2.5 wks! That I just can't imagine! I didn't even realise the Scouts had trips away for that length of time!.. I can't even get DS to join Beavers atm! The waiting list is very long so I might just stick him on it anyway only he'll be too old soon probably! Enjoy your time off. Make a list of all the things you'd like to do..that's what I'd do. Have fun!

Furble · 11/05/2019 07:06

Treat yourself to breakfast out this morning?
Nice walk or potter around a town or market to have a browse in peace?
I like taking on more challenging cooking/baking dishes when I am child free. Potter in the garden. Nap. Book in the bath. Pamper session in the bath. Enjoy your child free time OP!

SimonJT · 11/05/2019 07:08

Invite the FWB over or the person I’m seeing casually, if I’m not at work!

Dontgiveamonkeys1350 · 11/05/2019 07:40

@BooseysMom he is 15. He is going to the scout jamboree they have every few years. He is off to New York Washington Canada and spending time in the scouts of America base. He had to raise £4000 for this trip. He’s excited. And I’m even more excited I think. I can sit on the beach and read a book. Not think about ways to keep him from being bored.
I’m going to museums and a few stately homes. I’m doing Disney though Grin

glenthebattleostrich · 11/05/2019 07:43

I'm child free on a Friday daytime (childminder so many many children in and out all week!)

I have my cleaner in on Fri morning while I walk the dog, do some paperwork and then have my training session. In the afternoon I sit on the couch and catch up on TV while crocheting usually.

Stompythedinosaur · 11/05/2019 08:14

A mixture of cleaning, shagging and sleeping normally.

Angrybird123 · 11/05/2019 08:44

Read the paper cover to cover plus all of the above 👍

grumpyyetgorgeous · 11/05/2019 12:11

Am reading this with interest as I have an unexpected Saturday afternoon free (thanks to dsis and keen new "friend") when we first made arrangements I was planning all the jobs I could get done, now I'm considering doing something more fun.... hmmm Smile

Eminybob · 11/05/2019 12:30

Child free time? What’s that?

We were just getting to the point with Ds1 where he could sleep over at grandmas etc, then DS2 came along. Sigh.
