So I was in Manchester for a conference this week. Went out for a walk on Wednesday around where the town hall is. Manage to fall completely arse over tit in street... turned my ankle and bashed shoulder and wrist. No real damage done to me, just my pride dented and a bit wobbly.. ..
But 4 lovely Mancunians stopped to ask me of I was ok.
So thank you! Not sure that would happen on my home city... People there would generally laugh or ignore..
So thank you Mancunian strangers 💐💐

It's an incredibly friendly city isn't it? I'm glad you got looked after! I came home to the UK for my first visit in 4 years recently...from Oz.

I got off the plane in Manchester and straight away people were talking to me. I went outside...to get some air and more people spoke to me. So lovely,

I love living there, it's so friendly. You really notice the difference after a day spent in London for work, train journey home is the best!

Hope you're feeling ok now OP

Mancunian DH of 31 years 🥰

Great city & football team (blue - since a child - long before I met hubby 😅)

Lovely people with wicked sense of humour.

Oh & cool music too 😎

I'm a Manc and I'm appalled that in your home city people wouldn't stop to check if someone was ok Shock I'm glad you like us though!

EsmesRedPetticoat · 10/05/2019 12:12

KnobOfStork · 10/05/2019 12:15

Well they do say we have everything but a beach Grin

Wenttoseainasieve · 10/05/2019 12:15

However I will grudgingly admit that Liverpudlians are EVEN FRIENDLIER in my experience Grin

bigbadbadger · 10/05/2019 12:17

I love love love Manchester. I lived there aged 13-28 and carefully cultivated a manc accent and a swagger :)

So friendly and also fun, Mancunians know how to have fun like no other people I have ever met.

The football, the music, the people.... I miss it so much :)

Many years ago, visiting DWs aunt in Liverpool I got a bit lost. Stopped the car and asked a chap walking along the road where road was. He said "hang on ..." and walked a few doors back went back into his house and got an A-Z and worked out the best route for us. As a Londoner, I had to make a mental readjustment Grin.

A couple of years ago DW was in her power wheelchair in Victoria Square Birmingham, and it managed to come apart (dodgy design Sad) throwing her out. Within seconds a couple and 3 ladies had rushed over. None of them were English - they were all tourists.

@Wenttoseainasieve Agree, Liverpudlians are off the scale friendly!

x2boys · 10/05/2019 14:35

Ah but they normally make a beach at Heaton Park during the summer holidays @KnobOfStork!

I love Manchester and often forget how lucky I am to have been born here. Can't imagine living and working anywhere else. Grin
