Many thanks.

My DS will be 10 this summer, year 5.
We've started leaving him at home for 10 minutes or so here and there whilst we pop out to take his little sister to clubs etc.

I probably wouldn't leave him for much longer than that at the moment, although I think I could do in an emergency.

He's also started walking home from school alone sometimes. It's a 5 minute walk through a small town.

A year from now he will be about to start secondary school, and expected to get himself there and back without a parent (20 minute walk) so I think I need to start giving him some independence now.

  1. I didn't finish work two days of the week until half an hour or so after she'd get home from school.
