So excited to find a chocolate bar that tastes just like Cadbury's used to till Kraft fucked around with it: I give you Darkmilk Roasted Almond, creamy, chocolatey, rich and no palm oil crap involved.

I saw darkmilk when it first came out last year, tried it couple of times and tbh not a fan, passable but still prefer lindt. Didn't taste anything like the cadbury I remember, not smooth and creamy enough.

Aprilladvised · 09/05/2019 22:25

I read about a Dutch brand: Tony's which is supposed to be excellent and really like Cadburys of old. And available in the UK (but not where i live Sad)

FingersMcGinty · 09/05/2019 23:26

Apriladvised Ocado, Amazon and Waitrose sell Tony's chocolate.

I've seen that Tony's choc in Sainsbury's. Didn't know it was meant to be good so I'll buy some next time I'm there.

I'm forever boycotting Cadbury's for the way they ruined British chocolate and left a lot of people without jobs.

And for dropping the S.

EnidButton · 09/05/2019 23:42

Sorry OP I'm glad you've found some chocolate that you like and no palm oil is a very good thing.

Lucked · 09/05/2019 23:45

I like almonds in my chocolate so will give this a go.

DaisyDreaming · 09/05/2019 23:50

Someone related to the Cadbury family is creating chocolate that was meant to be like old Cadbury. Thought I would give it a go until I saw the shocking price! Make hotel chocolat look cheap!

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 09/05/2019 23:53

It’s criminal what Kraft have done. Between that and the sugar tax, all my favourite guilty pleasures have been ruined!

Dairy Milk just isn’t worth the calories now. It’s just blah.

MountainDweller · 10/05/2019 00:00

I've seen this advertised - I thought it would be like Green & Blacks or some European milk chocolate that has higher cocoa solids - am I right? In the description in the link it just says high cocoa milk chocolate (it also says high coca Shock), doesn't give a percentage.

julensaor · 10/05/2019 00:18

dark milk is just like a slightly creamier version of bourneville. Until the chocolate melts in a hot mess in my back pocket from body temperature alone, it is not the Cadbury of old. I'd say if someone/some company recreates it, they'll be in for a windfall on the market

HelenaDove · 10/05/2019 02:48

Galaxy are doing their darkmilk too. Saw it in our local Iceland

TheRedBarrows · 10/05/2019 03:13

Nope! Green and Blacks or Lindt for me now.

Dc had some Cadbury Easter eggs. The chocolate is so foul that they have been sitting on the table with a small bit broken off but otherwise uneaten since Easter as no one wants to finish them.

OfMe · 10/05/2019 03:33

I can testify that Tony's is bloody lovely - DH bought me a dark salted almond bar when I last had my period, and I was taken aback by how different it was from the same old shite they're trying to force on us. Even G&B's has been fucked with. Angry
But Tony's is lovely - if moulded a little weirdly so you don't get the same size piece every time!

SilverySurfer · 10/05/2019 04:06

I stick with Green & Blacks but wasn't impressed recently - their 100g bar is now only 90g for the same price which pissed me off a bit. Next time i'm in Waitrose I'll try a bar of Tony's.

whatswithtodaytoday · 10/05/2019 04:13

I bought Darkmilk and Bournville to compare. If you eat them together they are nothing alike - Darkmilk is almost tasteless in comparison, it's very sweet and quite creamy but not very chocolatey at all.

MyGuideJools · 10/05/2019 05:25

Green and Blacks is owned by Cadbury which is why it's shite. I'm going to look out for Tonys. Is it widely available?

MrsFrisbyMouse · 10/05/2019 09:25

Lidl fake snickers and Mars bars are like the originals - just Smaller

MrsFrisbyMouse · 10/05/2019 09:26

Original being before kraft messed with them.

MockerstheFeManist · 10/05/2019 10:43

Modnolez Philistines should be thrown into a vat of boiling chocolate, Willy Wonka style, for their crimes. A Great British Brand, murdered.

Thank You German supermarkets for rescuing us from this filth.

Stumpedasatree · 10/05/2019 10:45

I just melted down some dairy milk easter eggs for a chocolate fridge cake, turned into a massive greasy mass! Not a liquid melted chocolate as you'd expect. Is that the palm oil?

OP posts:
ginghamstarfish · 10/05/2019 10:50

Lidl Rich Milk choc - gorgeous, like milk and dark mixed, no crap, 1.49 huge bar

Rarfy · 10/05/2019 10:53

I love lilly obriens chocolate not sure if contains palm oil though.

Stumpedasatree · 10/05/2019 16:32

@ginghamstarfish I agree, I get that one too, it is lovely.
