Birthday party ideas for entertaining boys

Ds2 will be having his 6th birthday party at end of month. It’s an hour in a sports hall with a coach doing various sports then an hour in a (fairly small) party room. They will have food and birthday cake but not sure how else to use that hour. There will 25 5/6 year old boys so unlikely to sit still! Help!

Some foam/inflatable weapons, balloons, lightweight ball or two and maybe a piñata.
They’ll chase around and have chaos for an hour, great fun!

You could try pass the parcel.

I would probably put pick up time as 45 mins after the start time, rather than the hour, so that the first parent to arrive will have the effect of bringing the party to an end.

Leeds2 wish I thought of that before invites went out !
Piñata might work though there won’t be much room in the room because of the food table.
No balloons sadly as they terrify ds

All the 6yo boys I know are into Harry Potter, Lego, Batman, Spiderman, captain America. Maybe fancy dress? With a small prize for the winner?

Superhero musical statues (or musical bumps)
They have to run around doing superhero moves / poses / actions until the music stops.
It’s basically classic musical statues/bumps with a superhero theme - which somehow seems more exciting and appealing Grin

Sleepy lions is always a good one to calm them down before food or just after food.

WitchDancer Would be perfect but I don’t i’ll manage to get all the boys to ‘sleep’

You'll be surprised - it always works with Beavers/Cubs, particularly if they think a prize is involved 😂

ChoudeBruxelles · 10/05/2019 12:52

get them picked up sooner so they're not hanging aruond for an hour

If you don't organise them, they will 'make their own entertainment' ... some sort of quiz? Bingo? Little crafts they can do at the table?
