Party present ideas

It’s DS2’s party in a couple of weeks. He will be 6. A few mums have messaged asking for present ideas. I have absolutely no idea how to reply. It feels really cheeky to say that he really likes Lego etc. Any ideas?

Books or board games?

Why is it cheeky to say he likes Lego? If I was a guest I'd want to get him something he'd really enjoy not waste my money on something he might not like. It's not like you're putting together a registry for him or asking for cash.

Lego is expensive though so maybe say something along the lines of "That's really kind of you to ask. He loves Lego but I know that can be expensive so he would be happy with any books or anything to do with aeroplanes" for example. You could always add "don't feel that you have to get him a present" if you want to but I think most people going to a party wouldn't want to go empty-handed and obviously that's why they're asking.

I wouldn't just specify Lego because it is quite a pricey toy. I normally say something like "Don't feel you need to give a gift at all! If you do want to, then dc likes anything to do with animals/superheroes/whatever they are currently into".

I don't think there is anything wrong with saying Lego, as long as you give a few other alternatives eg he loves dinosaurs, cars etc. Or the name of a book he would like. They probably just want a general idea as to what he is in to, so "dinosaurs" might mean plastic dinosaurs, a dino game, a dino t shirt, a dino book etc.
