Why won't my baby sleep?

Feeling like I'm failing today. My 7 month old was previously an amazing sleeper, but the last week this has all changed. Now I can't seem to get him asleep at all unless he is so tired he just crashes out. I have tried rocking him, cuddling him and even taking him out for a drive. At 2am this morning he was ready for the day and it took me two hours to get him back to sleep, and now the morning nap is out of the question apparently. Please tell me it will get easier again?

It will pass, there is a sleep regression around 8 months. I know a week can feel like a month but you will get back in to your routine, it sounds like you're doing every right. Could he be teething?

Everything is always just a phase, don't worry it'll be easier again soon

Thank you! Hopefully it is just a phase. He could well be teething. His nappies have been aweful this week and he is so dribbly/ biting his teether, but no sign of a tooth yet.

Damntheman, that's what I used to do previously (but with a back rub) and he would just settle back down and go back to sleep. However, he has just learnt to pull himself up and now whenever I go in he is standing and screaming at the bottom of the cot. If I pick him up and lay him back down, he just gets more distraught and stands back up again. Do you think it would work with him standing? Problem is, I'm not sure he has learnt to get himself back down again.

Yes I'd just let him stand and sit quietly beside him :) There's always a way for a baby to get back down even if it's falling! And given he's in bed he shouldn't hurt himself, you can always help him to lie down once he's given up.

The screaming is so hard to bear as a parent! You have all my sympathy.

Damntheman, thanks for the advice. He is currently asleep!
