Is this blood in urine?

For a few weeks now I’ve needed to go to the loo more often and have felt like my bladder isn’t emptying - I thought I may have a bladder infection but at the time I had much bigger problems as we were all very unwell. I ended up having a course of antibiotics for a lung infection which ended 10 days ago or so.

Last night the pain when urinating began so I figured right, I definitely have a UTI. Took a sample this morning to drop off at the doctors so I don’t have to take up an appointment. Looks a bit cloudy / dark but nothing out of the ordinary.

20 mins later I had to pee again and when I wiped it was pink. Couldn’t see any blood in the loo so it must be a very small amount.

Is it still okay to just drop this sample off to be checked or do I actually have to see a doctor? If I’ve had an infection for weeks would the amoxycillin not have helped or is that the wrong type?

Amoxicillin is a broad spectrum antibiotic so it may have helped but sometimes UTIs require a different or specific type of antibiotic.

The pink tinge may have been blood but if you’ve provided a urine sample they will be able to see from that if there is blood in it. Personally I would have made an appointment to see a doctor with your symptoms considering it’s been going on for a while etc but then my doctors doesn’t do the whole dropping urine samples off for a UTI thing so I’m sure they will ring you if it flag anything up.

Thank you. I can’t see any blood in the sample (couldn’t see any in the loo either) but if there was a small amount of blood 20 minutes later I suspect they’ll be able to detect a small amount in the sample if that’s what it was.

That’s what I thought about the amoxicillin - I hoped that if I did have an infection it would take care of it. I haven’t taken them for years before this and really don’t want another course so soon but this bloody hurts!
