Do people still read blogs?

Morning all!

In this day and age of Youtube, Instagram, and podcasts, do you still take the time to read blogs? Cookery blogs still seem to be popular, fashion blogs less so than they used to be a few years ago, but what about columnist-style blogs?

I've wanted to start one for a long time, and I'm going to set one up anyway (even if it's only me that reads it!) but was wondering if anybody else still enjoys more traditional articles and had any advice for whether it's better to make my own from scratch or submit to already established websites!

They do. I'm a copy and content writer so have some insight.

The thing is, the interest levels in personal blogs has waned considerably. That is to say...if you'r going into it with the intention of making money, you will need to be very savvy indeed.

What is it you want to write about? Some niches can garner a lot of interest whilst others won't.

Parenting for example needs to be held up by accompanying Instagram, Twitter and Facebook in order to gather interest...and you'll have to hit the right nerve to get any sort of following.
