Party bags for 10 year olds

My DT are 10 and I've booked a disco party for them both. I've got the party bags for the bit of cake and sweets but do they still have plastic tat? What go in the bags? My boys are no help and I don't remember what they got at other parties but probably just sweets?

at ten i would say a piece of cake and bag of sweets will be more than enough in the goody bags

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 08/05/2019 16:33

At that age, I just went for sweets, if I remember correctly.

BlackeyedGruesome · 08/05/2019 16:34

ds got lots of bits, but the kid in question was autistic, and ds is autistic so not sure whether that has an influence on how well it was received.

I might put in stationary, (notebook/ pens) or chocolate bar and sweets.

depends what sort of thing kids are into.

SummerHouse · 08/05/2019 16:35

I put yo-yos (69p home bargains) and sweets for 9 yr olds.

MrsWombat · 08/05/2019 16:36

Depending on your budget I would look at getting a cheap torch if you really wanted a gift. Instead of the usual sweetie cone a treat size bag of M&Ms or one of those poundland box of malteasers?

SummerHouse · 08/05/2019 16:36

Ps they were light up ones so suit the disco theme.

Like the torch idea. That and a slice of cake would make a 10 years olds day I reckon. For DDs party last year we got each child those solar powered nodding dog and monkey toys from Tiger. They went down well. Year before we did inflatable guitars from Amazon which only worked out to a couple of quid each. I still see the kids bashing each other on the head with them a few years on ConfusedSmile

Thanks. I'm liking the ideas, something to think about

torch is genius.

Whitelisbon · 08/05/2019 16:57

I got a pile of cheap metal torches and compasses from Amazon or eBay, went down a storm.

slippermaiden · 08/05/2019 16:59

Just sweets, or we have given everyone a toblerone each at the end, nice and easy.

Ormally · 08/05/2019 17:01

One supermarket's party multipack shelf had packs of about 5 different kinds of beanie balls (rugby, basketball, tennis designs, that kind of thing, all different). Thought that was quite a good party bag option. Or-dare I suggest it - there are sometimes 5 packs of mini test tube slime. Last saw these in the Entertainer/Smyths.

gotmychocolateimgood · 08/05/2019 17:05

Glowsticks!

MrsJDornan · 08/05/2019 17:49

Definitely glow sticks! Kids love them - so do I Blush they are fun in the bath too Grin

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 08/05/2019 20:47

I swear if you do Toblerone AND torches I'm coming!

NeverTalksToStrangers · 08/05/2019 20:54

My ds is 10. Last 2 birthday party bags have included a pack of cards (2 for £1 in Poundland), bendy rulers (ebay), cardboard build your own spin tops (which i originally thought were fidget spinners but were actually quite cool as they had mad colours and spun very well), bendy pencils.

Osquito · 08/05/2019 20:57

You can buy bulk packs of those tiny lights that fit over a finger (think rave gear), I’ve seen them on party favours’ sites/Amazon.

Other than that, I think just a bag of sweets would go down fine.

GloGirl · 08/05/2019 21:00

For a disco definitely get finger lights. You can buy a cheap pack of 50 or so on Amazon. To be fair you probably want to have them freely available at the disco.

Leeds2 · 08/05/2019 21:23

I have seen footballs given out at the end (I think from somewhere like JJB).

aweedropofsancerre · 08/05/2019 21:28

Wouldn't bother wasting your money. Plastic tat ends up in the bin...i have done books (buy a box set) , cricket balls, footballs I stopped with the plastic tat when they were 6. Glow sticks lose there glow very quickly too....keep it simple and dont waste your money

SpeckledyHen · 08/05/2019 21:29

I once gave a harmonica and a HUGE bar of chocolate- the kids loved them and the parents hated me 🤬

Scanon · 08/05/2019 21:31

My DT are 11. This/last year they got party bags with:
-a water bottle (from Poundland)
-stationery
-squishies
-bath bomb and a body polisher sponge thing
-nail varnish
-(sweets)
