if you understand colour mixing please advise!

I have a mustard/gold/yellow fabric. I'd like to dye it green. According to my limited understanding of the colour wheel, this will work if I use blue/violet dye. Can anyone confirm this?

Blue may work, but if you're starting with mustard it may not end up a very nice green. Try it on a small piece first?

I'm afraid of that. I don't have a sample piece so maybe I need to choose a safer colour change.
