Help me escape my window...

Two veluxes in the loft, with bolts on. We’ve never had a key to one of them so can’t open it. The other one was unbolted, but some guests accidentally bolted it when trying to open the window. Now it seems to be locked.

Trouble is, it’s our fire escape - and we need the breeze too!

Don’t want to take a hammer to it as it’s on a window...

You need to get a key; you could try contacting Velux for advice.

Unscrew the entire mechanism and fit a new one?

Yeah you'll need a locksmith or window person for that.

Handyman had a look and there’s no obvious way to unscrew it, so I think next step may be locksmith.
I’ve emailed Velux themselves, but the windows are 20 years old so it’s probably an old part.

What are the two circles for on the bottom? They look like screw holes.

That's what I thought KnifeAngel. It's fixed to the wood somehow, probably underneath, but those two screw holes must have a function otherwise they wouldn't be there.
