No get well card or flowers/gift

I'm off work for 6 weeks after a significant but planned operation. I've worked for my company for 10 years and in my current team for 2 years. I have received neither a get well card nor flowers/gift from my colleagues. It's a team that always 'does' birthday cards, leaving gifts etc. A colleague had an accident a few months ago and we clubbed together for a card and flowers.

I'm nearly a month in to my recovery and one colleague has kept in touch but I realised no card or token gift has been sent from my team. I'm a bit sad about it. It's also my birthday next week but it's highly unlikely a card will be posted for that either. I contribute equally to the card fund so I'm a bit cheesed off to be honest.

I had emergency surgery last month and didn’t get anything from work, apart from the ice lolly my boss got me when he came to visit. When I had elective surgery the other year I did get something so maybe they thought it wasn’t worth getting anything for the second one.

I know how you feel though. Even a card would have been nice. I only got one card, I’ve had so many operations that people don’t bother anymore.

Is there usually one person who organises it all?

FreeWee · 07/05/2019 18:33

I've never had an operation before so don't know the etiquette really but did think this was unusual.

FiremanKing yes she sits about 3m away from me but there's lots of people in the team who could have thought of it if she didn't.

Emakl her, and say sorry they haven't had a thank you yet, but your card/present must have gone to the wrong address.

Email

GlamGiraffe · 07/05/2019 18:40

Send an email to her and say you wondered if anything interesting had happened in your presence as it was quite boring being t home and you could do with something to brighten your mood..See if the hint works!!

GlamGiraffe · 07/05/2019 18:41

In your absence I mean!

FreeWee · 07/05/2019 19:35

Ha! I could do that but I'm not sure they'd get the hint!
