How do you get you toddler to eat fruit?

My toddler won't pick up fruit and eat it. Except blueberries sometimes. How do you deal with this? He's too young to reason with (14 months). I mostly hide it in porridge in the mornings. He will eat fruit at nursery but that's about it. Any more ideas on getting it into him please?
He eats veg fairly well. He's teething with molars at the moment so will hardly bite down on anything to add another complication.

I think you're doing pretty well if he'll eat veg!

I just kept offering it at different times, using different fruits and now sort of have a bit of a routine for what DD will eat. Pear at brekkie, banana as a snack later, raspberries or satsuma sir something after dinner.

if he eats veg thats fine....in fact i think its probably better as its got less sugar in. so i would encourage that. bananas are pretty soft have u tried them? sounds like he might like little bits if he eats blueberries?

Historically, fruit has been a treat food for humans so he's probably spot on! I wouldn't worry about this at all - it's the vege that counts.

Ok thanks everyone. The reassurance I needed. MIL is very disapproving.
In porridge/on weetabix he has various combinations of plum, apple, sultana, raspberries. I shall keep going. I'm keen to increase his fruit intake as he gets constipation easily, despite us being veggie and him eating plenty of veg in his meals.

My dd was only allowed 1 portion of fruit per day on dental advice. (fruit acid is terrible for teeth!) if he's eating veg I think you've got it perfect! Your dentist will be happy!

Does he eat it if puréed?

Rainatnight · 07/05/2019 13:45

On the constipation, does he drink enough water?

Elljay24 · 07/05/2019 13:55

Have you tried putting it in yoghurt or fromage frais? Always good to disguise some foods! ;)

My DC love banana milkshake- literally just milk & a ripe banana whizzed up together. Also rice pudding with pureed fruit. You could also try smoothies.

I do however echo other posters saying that if he'll eat veg you needn't worry about him, that's very healthy!
