Has anyone else experienced this? Period started Saturday morning and lasted till sat evening. Then nothing else since.

This has happened once before but after a day a 'proper' period started.

The only time this has happened to me I was pregnant.

Walkerbean16 · 07/05/2019 07:06

As above

mayde · 07/05/2019 07:06

teyem was is a lot of bleeding though, or just light? If you don't mind me asking.

It was enough to think that another month had gone by without getting pregnant and to feel pretty sorry for myself but on reflection, perhaps a little lighter than usual. The second day, which is usually my heaviest day, it just stopped completely.

mayde · 07/05/2019 07:27

Ok thanks teyem. Was that the same for you @Walkerbean16 too?

The fact it was late and quite heavy made me think it was my period.

My periods are only ever 1-2 days long

Take a pregnancy test and if it's negative I wouldn't worry too much, it'll probably go back to normal next month

Cookit · 07/05/2019 09:13

I had a 3 day period (normally 5) and that was implantation bleeding and I was actually pregnant.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 07/05/2019 09:17

Once. I wasn't pregnant though. I had one day of normal period then nothing for three days.
Then the rest of it just arrived all in one go in a big flood. Very annoying.

Notquitemyselfanymore · 07/05/2019 09:18

I bled light for two weeks and I thought I was having an odd period. I was pregnant.

burblife · 07/05/2019 09:43

I also had this and turned out to be implantation bleeding and I was pregnant.

mayde · 07/05/2019 10:00

I really hope I'm not pregnant. Still breastfeeding and using contraception!

Is this your first post partum period? Because they can be weird.

mayde · 07/05/2019 10:15

No they returned about 5 months ago .

It might be worth just taking a quick pregnancy test and ruling it out.

ComtesseDeSpair · 07/05/2019 10:28

I’ve had this several times, definitely wasn’t pregnant. I did go to my GP after it had happened about four times and she said it can happen when something happens in your body so that your uterus builds a shallower lining than usual - stress, illness, hormonal fluctuation etc. If you’re still breastfeeding then the hormone prolactin also affects it.

Walkerbean16 · 07/05/2019 10:45

Yes it was the same for me. Normal period for one day only.

mayde · 07/05/2019 11:32

I have been under a lot of stress recently so maybe that's caused it.

OP posts:
outvoid · 07/05/2019 11:36

It happened to me when pregnant with DS. I thought it was my period so put a pad on but by the morning it had completely stopped. It was fairly heavy, enough to soak one pad.

Take a test to rule it out. Breastfeeding can cause erratic periods though so may just be that or your contraceptive.

stucknoue · 07/05/2019 11:45

How are old are you, by your 40's this becomes more common (and alas the opposite)

concernedforthefuture · 07/05/2019 11:46

Yes, when I was pregnant. A completely normal period in terms of timing and flow / clots, that just suddenly stopped after 1 day instead of the usual 5-6.
I discovered a few days later that I was 4 weeks' pregnant when the bleed started- assumed it was implantation bleeding.
Same thing happened on 2nd pregnancy.

concernedforthefuture · 07/05/2019 11:47

Although I've just read you're breastfeeding. That could cause it - especially if baby has fed more than usual recently.

YesimstillwatchingNetflix · 07/05/2019 13:03

I think you should do a pregnancy test.....

mayde · 07/05/2019 15:04

Just tested and was negative. Will test again in a couple of weeks but hopefully I'm not pregnant.
