Dream birthday gift

I'm gathering ideas for my husband's 40th later this year - what would be your / your partner's dream gift?

He has a posh watch, pen, wallet, so I'm looking for something different!

I’m getting mine a fancy coffee machine.
My dream gift would be a weekend (or even a night) away (that I didn’t have to book or organise) and returning to a deep cleaned house.
I’d also love a diamond solitaire necklace.

We have a fancy coffee machine already or else that would be ideal.

I'm planning a weekend away (childcare is an issue!) and potentially a cottage stay with his friends. I'm just wondering whether there's anything he can unwrap on the day.

He is not a jewellery wearer and has more cuff links than he knows what to do with.

Absolutely impossible to buy for...!

Does he have any particular interests or hobbies that you can buy tickets for?

My DH loves cars so I got him tickets to the F1 for his last big birthday.

My do's dream gift would be new running clothes and a shedload of books. Easy!

A car that is always clean, inside and out. I work on building sites, live on an unmade street and eat whilst driving between meetings. My car is never clean!

SlumMumBum · 06/05/2019 22:04

He loves cycling and rugby. He already has a bike that is his pride and joy and not really one for sporting memorabilia..

These are all great ideas! An organised holiday is my idea of bliss. I would also be easily pleased with some precious stones.

What about an experience?
Something like a red letter day so a track day in an ott expensive sports car or a segway experience
I'd love to do a hotairballoon ride/bungee jump/paragliding/skydive etc.

Chickenwing · 06/05/2019 22:11

Mine wants a drone. An expensive one. ConfusedHmm

winterisstillcoming · 06/05/2019 22:21

Does he like gadgets?

If he likes photography then an insta 360 is fun.

Or a go pro?

BackforGood · 06/05/2019 22:33

An 'experience' day - flying a glider? helicopter trip ? Sports car driving ? Tank driving ? Balloon ride? Sky dive?

Or less adrenalin - wine tasting course? cookery course?

SlumMumBum · 07/05/2019 08:20

Cookery course! That's a brilliant idea. I must have one of the most tricky partners to buy for.

For DH's 40th I bought him a stupidly expensive watch (it was before DS came along and we had more disposable income).

If he loves rugby what about exec box tickets at somewhere like Twickenham or Murrayfield?

DennisSkinnersMolotov · 07/05/2019 10:29

My dream gift would be a holiday and when I came back, all the stupid little DIY jobs round the house would be done.

Hollowvictory · 07/05/2019 10:29

Flying lesson
Michelin starred cookery couse
Trip to goodwood festival of speed
Went down well with my dh.
