Any help in deciphering common ones please?

Also- can people look at every post/comment someone makes under their username?

Yes, anyone can search any of your posts made under your current name. If you have something you’d rather not link to your usual name, then name chance. But be prepared to explain you’ve name changed or everyone will trouble you’re a troll

No idea on the app I’m afraid, but on the mobile site there’s a magnifying glass at the blue bar at the bottom- that will allow to you search for stuff
