DH and I are looking to relocate in the next year or two. We want to have enough space for our DCs (18 and 20), but they probably wouldn’t move down full time.
Finding the perfect area is really hard, we’ve been going down to explore every weekend, staying in Airbnbs, and have kind of narrowed it down to central devon, about 45 minutes or less from Exeter. I’d like to live in a large village or small town with at least a shop, pub, post office, library (more than happy with a mobile library), doctors surgery, and maybe a cafe. Not too expensive an area as the most we’d like to spend would be £400k, preferably less. Has anyone got any ideas. I like North Tawton, but hoping to hear of other places similar. I’d like to hear the good AND the bad.
I work from home, but it would be nice to be able to meet people. I thought I could try the WI, a sewing or craft group or diet club? I’d also be happy to get involved with fund raising activites or something like a community shop. Are people welcoming? Someone I know moved to Cornwall, and didn’t find it very friendly, but shes an expert in oneupmanship, so that might be why.
