"Party" food for a funeral

I have volunteered to sort out the food for DPs grandads wake. We are all just going to DPs grandma's house afterwards and there will be about 20ish people there.

I thought oh easy, I'll just join Costco again as I've been meaning to anyway and get their platters but now I don't think I'm eligible for a membership anymore (used to work in finance but don't now).

The M&S platters all seem to need 3 days notice so I've left that too late Blush any other suggestions?

Costco have online membership that anyone can get - can you place an order that way and then go pick it up?

Just go to Costco and say you need to renew your card. I had to prove I was a member of the NUJ first time round (because obviously journalists have a business based need to be in Costco!) but not for renewals I don’t think.

I heard you no longer have to be a member at Costco. Not checked though.

Another vote for Greggs if they can get it done in time. We had a buffet at work and I was sceptical when someone said they'd used Greggs but the food was really nice.

My local m&s do the sandwich platters in the chiller with sandwiches and salads where you can just pick them up. Would it be worth ringing round your local ones to see if that's something they do?

If you have an Iceland near you they do platters, dessert and savoury. They savoury don't take long to cook and all cook at same temp. That along with sandwiches with premade fillings.

Sorry for the loss of your DH's grandad Flowers

feeling I know I was a bit snobby skeptical before I got the greggs platters too but they were so much nicer than the very fancy and expensive deli I had used the month before!

French bread, butter, cheeses, cold meats, mini pork pies, mini scotch eggs, bags of salad leaves, cherry tomatoes, crisps, jam tarts, battenburgs, chocolate muffins, grapes, melon, strawberries.

Managed to convince a work colleague to take me to Costco at lunchtime with her card so all sorted for tomorrow 😊

That Mary beryy stuff Spunds like a pain, before you serve, pop the cucumber and tomato in and slice off all the crusts. By the time you've finished faffing, have you saved any time?
