I really want one of these!

When I first got married 40 years ago I had one, then two, with fetching blue and pink flowers.
They had useful pockets and washed and drip dried really easily important in the days of twin tub washers and no central heating.
They kept my clothes nice and clean and stopped me spilling things all down myself am a scruffy cow but they have vanished. They are no more. Even my Mil hasn't had one for years, I thought they had gone for good.
Until yesterday in the French garden centre.
WIBU to buy one? I am of the right size and I have reached the age of invisibility so I should just go for it, right?

I really want one of these!

I wouldn't wear one but I have a pile of aprons with big pockets from DexamGrin

puppylovebaby · 06/05/2019 11:45

Are you serious??

Coniferhedge · 06/05/2019 12:05

Can't speak for anyone else, but I'm serious! I'm a real clumsy cow and have ruined a dress and a couple of pairs of jeans in the past by splashing bleach on them.

Ok then, now that money's being mentioned, let's start the bidding for my vintage (well, inherited from my mum when I cleared her house - and she's been polishing stars in the firmament for many years) blue and white checked nylon button up the front overall with ,blue trim round the armholes and neck, two deep pockets with wider blue trim tops, suitable for transporting all manner of kittens/smaller breed puppies/etc. with 6 original pearlised buttons.Grin
Now, who's going to start me off?......

Dudley style and beauty????? A thread about housecoats?
Which, however much I want one, would never claim they are either stylish or beautiful!

Now I can see I am not alone, I feel confident getting one.
Love that Japanese design- would need to make it wider, as I am a traditionally built granny.

I would have no add big pockets too.

I will check my stash of patterns and see what I have got, back later!

I've got one of the Japanese style ones. I wear it to cook and clean in all the time, or in the garden.

I'm 33 but my mum said I was born old.

sackrifice · 06/05/2019 13:25

Is now the time to say: I also have a hand made gardening apron, for my seeds and secateurs; and when I lost that [last year] I got my OH to buy me 3 black waist aprons like they use in restaurants. The day after they arrived, I found my original and I was cock a hoop.

Nanalisa60 · 06/05/2019 13:31

Well I won’t be seen dead in one of those!! I will continue to clean in my Jim jams and a fleece!!

Isthebigwomanhere · 06/05/2019 14:57

I have one of these and two tabards.
I don't care if all hope is lost.
They are my cleaning aprons 😀

Nicolastuffedone · 06/05/2019 15:04

I thought dudsville was being funny....

Notmorewashing · 06/05/2019 15:07

I need one too, only found ones with no sides.

positivemoves · 06/05/2019 15:13

That's a pinny. This is a housecoat

I really want one of these!
marvellousnightforamooncup · 06/05/2019 15:25

Isn't that a dressing gown Positive?

Ces6 · 06/05/2019 15:29

I live in Italy and I know quite a few shops where you can get them. Maybe I should buy them up and sell them on to mumsnetters?

RandomMess · 06/05/2019 15:37

I really want a Japanese style pinny!

RandomMess · 06/05/2019 15:39

Why are they linen Confused

tumpymummy · 06/05/2019 15:56

Omg! What a good idea. Cant believe i am even considering one, think hubby would divorce me if he came home and I was wearing one!

bamboofibre · 06/05/2019 16:00

OMG, I need one of these!

FrogFairy · 06/05/2019 16:03

I would love a pinny or tabard in soft brushed cotton fabric, but they don’t exist. I have a sewing machine but doubt I have the skill to make them.

My granny has these, I think from marks and Spencers, but she's worn them my whole life and I'm almost 30!

freshasthebrightbluesky · 06/05/2019 16:15

My nannan had one of these! She had a mini one, on a little coat hanger, sewn up at the bottom for the clothes pegs too.
