Did you feel ready for your driving test? And did you pass?

I have my driving test on Tuesday. My instructor assured me I'm ready but I don't feel it. I haven't nailed the manoeuvres & roundabouts cause me some confusion. I'm absolutely desperate to pass though.

I'm just wondering, is it normal to not feel completely ready? And if you felt this way yourself, did you end up passing?

This is really important to me for a number of reasons. I went NC with my mum a year ago. She always put me down and this is why I've decided to learn. To prove to myself that I can achieve whatever I set my mind to. A pass would just be amazing.

I passed 4th time, I really didn't have much interest in driving, I went that many times for a test, I thought the examiners would invite me to their Christmas do.

I never felt I was ready to pass.

Good luck, fingers crossed for you.

I don't think anyone ever feels ready.

Try to remember to take it slowly, don't rush and make sure you look exaggeratedly in all the mirrors so the instructor knows you're doing it.

If you feel yourself starting to panic, breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth a couple of times.

You'll be fine. Good luck!

Thank you for the replies :)

I hope you're right. Fingers crossed the nerves don't get the better of me 🙏🏼

Nope and it took me more than 3 times to pass. Eventually nailed it with a fantastic instructor who was endlessly patient and talked a mile a minute and informed me quite firmly that I was full of shit when I asked "what if I fail? when do I just give up?"

I failed 😩 7 minors and 1 major. Never mind.

I'm sorry to hear that you failed and I am a bit late to this thread but just in case you're still interested for future reference, I thought I would add my experience. I was encouraged to book my practical by my instructor and so booked a slot last September. But as the time came closer I realised that I did not feel ready so spoke to my instructor about postponing it. So I rebooked for October and spent the last lessons before that focusing on what I thought were my problem areas (lanes at roundabouts mostly). When the time for the test came I felt much more confident and passed first time.

I hope you will rebook and try again. It should hopefully be a lot less nerve wracking now that you know what to expect and what to focus on.

I’m sorry you failed. Flowers But TBH when you said that roundabouts cause you some confusion I thought it didn’t really sound as if you were ready. The aim of the test is to establish that you are a safe driver, and to be a safe driver you need to be able to navigate a roundabout safely.

I wasn’t ready for my first test, and I didn’t pass. It was also the weekend after I had spent 4 days in hospital with my daughter, so my mind was not in the right place for doing it.

The second time I felt ready. I knew I was a good and a safe driver. I had already done one test so I wasn’t stressed at being in an exam situation, which meant I could just focus on driving well.
