Talk to me about broken elbows...

Broke mine (olecranon - better known as the pointy bit of your elbow) a week ago, and had to have surgery to fix it, so there's metalwork holding it all together.

I'm in plaster for at least another week and then I have a follow up appointment, but I didn't really have a chance to ask many questions, wasn't given so much at a patient information leaflet, and Google isn't throwing much up about recovery times.

Anyone had one and can tell me how long it took to heal and when you were back to normal activities like carrying things, driving and cycling?

My husband did his olecranon 10years ago. His scar is about 10 inches long. He still can’t get his arm fully straight, but he didn’t always do his physio exercises. He was in plaster for about a fortnight then nothing as it was all pinned inside so it was just the scar they were protecting with the cast. Sorry can’t remember when he was back driving etc.
His was horrific, the bone was out the skin... 🤢
