What can I achieve in 6 weeks?! princessing / self improvement ideas!

Last year I did a 6 week gym challenge and lost 2 stone (but most importantly, I felt AMAZING and strong!) I’m starting another one this week, and it occurred to me I’m really good at achieving ‘big’ stuff in short term periods of time, so I want to try other 6 week challenges!

What can I do?!

On my list so far is:

Lose 14lbs in 6 week gym challenge
Complete C25K
Increase my billable business hours by 20
Read 6 ‘life changing’ books - any suggestions?!
Keeps a gratitude journal every evening
Take my make up off every night

What else could be achieved in 6 weeks to make me a new woman?

Cookery course
Photography course
Some kind of sport course
Learn a language (you're not going to be fluent in 6 weeks, but you could go from zero to basic conversation)
Do a good deed every day for six weeks
Be teetotal for 6 weeks
Stop smoking

What is princessing?

twirlypoo · 05/05/2019 10:36

Ooh good ideas!

I love the cookery and good deeds one.

I’m giving up drink for the gym challenge and don’t smoke already, my language skills are horrendous though!

There were some ‘princessing’ threads on here I think dating back to the royal wedding. Basically a 100 day count down to an event / date, but trying to live really well over that period. Drinking lots of water / exercising etc!

I love this idea!!!!

What about a youtube 'crashcourse'? Some of them have a lot of videos so six weeks is very reasonable, but others are quite short so you might get two or three in. It's a good way to break into a new subject! :D

Decluttering challenge, if this would be useful?

I love the YouTube idea - I’m going to add to my list:

Visit 6 cultural places in my city - art galleries, museums etc.

Decluttering is also genius - I will do a room a week.

I’m writing these down on a 6 week timetable broken down into daily goals so it all gets done in an achievable way. Baby steps add up to big things and all that!

Oh!!!

I’m also adding in not staking my ex on social media.... I can do that for 6 weeks right?! And hopefully I won’t give a toss once I’ve broken the habit Blush

There’s some sort of decluttering challenge where you get rid of 1 thing from your home on day 1, then 2 things on day 2, 3 things on day 3 etc etc. Though maybe 6 weeks is a bit long for that, you might end up just sitting in an empty house Grin

ILiveInSalemsLot · 05/05/2019 12:02

I love this idea!
No further suggestions but thanks for the inspiration.

twirlypoo · 05/05/2019 13:55

❤️iliveinsalemslot please feel free to write your own list and join me! I’m starting Tuesday after the bank holiday!

Sammy I reckon I could do that challenge for 6 years and still be surrounded by stuff! Haha!

Smile I’ll start on Tuesday too. So far, my list looks like this -
Low carb for 6 weeks
10k steps a day (I do this on most days but not every day)
Yoga every day even if it’s 10 mins.
Use moisturiser every day
Read 20 mins fiction and 20 mins non fiction every day.
Read to the kids every day
Limit my phone ‘down time’ to 1hr (so just the crap waste of time stuff rather than things I have to do)

I think sticking to the last one will help me stick to all the rest!

Elllicam · 05/05/2019 16:37

I’m in :) I’ll start on Tuesday too.
Lose 1 stone
Daily exercise
Daily good deed

You could write a complete first draft to a novel, NaNoWriMo is good for advice on how it's doable. I've done it, was published too! (After two re-writes, but still.)

thesnailandthewhale · 05/05/2019 16:50

C25K is a 9 week programme? (misses point of the thread Grin )

stargal · 05/05/2019 18:41

swap food choices in the supermarket for better ones: e.g. battery eggs for free range/organic, free range chicken, organic apples, use local butcher
reduce use of plastic
buy a re-usable coffee cup and use it

every action helps the planet

notacooldad · 05/05/2019 18:56

I thought "princessing"was about making the most of your self and getting as glam as possible rather than take up new hobbies?
Maybe search the old threads about this, there are loads but you've covered a lot of them anyway.
Plenty of rest
Ditch alcohol
Ditch high processed food and high sugar products.
Low carb
Exercise, strength,( weights) flexibility ( yoga, body balance) cardi ( HITT)
teeth whitening

Nearer time of the event
Eyebrows, lashes, fake tan, manicure, pedicure and waxing threading if you need it.
Enjoy your challenge and end results!

ILiveInSalemsLot · 06/05/2019 23:07

I’m ready to start tomorrow!
I’ve done a bit of prep and have started on a few things on my list but am ready to go full on tomorrow.
I bought myself a little note book so I can do the daily list and tick it off each and every day.

notacooldad · 06/05/2019 23:41

So what is your plan twirly

Did you do an advanced MN search on "princessing" there loads of suggestions to look and feel better.
