DS 2nd birthday is coming up and I'm looking for gift ideas. Which toys have been the biggest hit with your 2-3yr olds? He loves trains and his mega blocks.
Thanks in advance Smile

My son loved his little wooden cooker and wooden play food. I got a lovely, simple red one...it just had a fake hob and an oven to open. No noises or anything. That plus a load of lovely wooden food and tin pans etc and he was happy for hours.

He loved it for YEARS too.

DS was pretty obsessed by Brio at that age. Although he found parts of it a bit frustrating when he'd only just turned two. It's still v popular now (he's nearly 5) so it wasn't just a fad.

Baby dolls at the moment. Dd would spend all day rocking/shushing her baby if I let her!

Other things she loves - wooden kitchen and the Ikea soft fruit/veg to ‘cook’.
Paint, pens and a big a3 sketch pad to draw in.

My DS is 2 this week. He loves his cars. Doesn't matter what size or colour, as long as they go far on the laminate floor. He likes to race them along the floor, and line them up.

For my two it’s things that move - and not always the things I’d expect.

The absolutely biggest hit recently for my twins has been these cogs - I can’t believe how much they love them, they’ll play with them for hours.
They can use the toy completely on their own - cogs go on and spin to the bottom, then you just lift the pole out and they spin off. They are obsessed with it. It’s big and chunky, really durable, no batteries and noisy stuff (although the spinning cogs Male a satisfying whir). And it’s on offer at the moment too

The one who loves building mostly plays with duplo and these magnetic things - he makes 3D shapes out of it and loves them

Ds will be 2 in June. He loves his abacus! Can sit for hours counting.

Also loves playing with his dolls house and little people figures- pj masks, peppa pig and hey duggee- and he has a pirate ship they go on too!

Other than that he likes his blow up ball pit which I put balloons in instead of balls

DS is two next month and I’m getting him a play kitchen. He has one at his nans and loves it.
He likes colouring, trains and building blocks. He’s quite fond of pushing things so I’m going to get him a baby pram

BillyAndTheSillies · 05/05/2019 08:25

DS's absolute favourite was his play kitchen at 2. He'd spend hours playing with it.
He loved cars, especially pullback cars and this is when he started to play with duplo.
He got an easel from his GP's and he loved the chalkboard side but mainly for the rubbing out rather than the drawing.

Duplo , dressing up (pretending to swim around the house wearing goggles), chunky wooden jigsaws/puzzles and a very simple dolls house which is home to a variety of action figures and animals!

goose1964 · 05/05/2019 08:37

Anything with wheels, building blocks(the wooden ones) dinosaurs.

wonkylegs · 05/05/2019 08:46

We bought DS2 an Ikea play Kitchen for his second birthday - it is really loved and used not only by DS but by every visiting child.
DS1 had a sandpit that went down well and is still in use

DS2 has just turned three but his favourites over the past year have been
Wooden car garage with ramps,
a little play table for outside so he can do colouring in the garden
Colouring stuff
A broom for sweeping the floor
Jigsaws
Wooden train set - got it for DS1 about 8/9 years ago and it's been added to for years, both kids still play with it even though the eldest is about to start secondary school!
Set of dinosaurs

Shelbybear · 05/05/2019 08:48

Play house for the garden with a kitchen area attached on the outside. Peppa Pig house and characters. Peppa Pig trike too she loves that and the little basket at the back. Oh and her toy garage and cars. Sometime it's used as a slide for Peppa as well as the cars lol. Bubble machine that she can push and walk with, asks me for bubbles constantly for it!

They are toys that she hasn't stopped playing with since her bday. She hasn't bothered will her doll that pees on the toilet that much. She also got a sand and water table but we haven't built it up yet, think all kids would love that.
