Painful lump on one side of groin

I've just discovered a lump on my right side, sort of just in from the crease of my leg. It feels like a swollen gland, definitely only on one side. I don't feel unwell, other than stupid piles I got in pregnancy have made a painful reappearance. Is it anything to be concerned about?

If it feels pea shaped it might just be a boil.

Wallabyone · 04/05/2019 23:56

I'm not sure it's in the right place to be a boil and it feels a bit bigger. If you imagine your pubic area as an upside down triangle, it's at the top corner of the triangle and you'd see it looking in a mirror as it's at the front rather than lower on the bikini line. Thanks for replying.

How big is it?

Could it be an ingrown hair?
I think it would probably be painful if it was.

usernameuser · 05/05/2019 00:06

Yes I get an ingrown hair there occasionally, they come up as a lump and really hurt.

Inforapenny65 · 05/05/2019 00:28

It could be a hernia

PerfectionistProcrastinator · 05/05/2019 00:52

Sounds like it could be a swollen lymph node. Have you an ingrowing hair somewhere on that side down below?

PerfectionistProcrastinator · 05/05/2019 00:57

I ask that because my lymph node swells with a minor infection such as an ingrower after shaving.

Dp had the same recently when he had a big spot on one of his hips. The lymph node on that side of his groin flared up.

Wallabyone · 05/05/2019 07:07

Thanks all, I'm not sure about an ingrown hair, I can't see anything on the skin. The lump is probably about 5p sized. Possibly a gland? How long should I leave it to see whether it goes away?

It’s probably a swollen lymph node and probably to do with the piles. If it doesn’t go within a few days see the doctor.j

Lovestonap · 05/05/2019 07:59

I'd go with possible hernia, I had one in my groin. It moved a bit when I pressed it around. I needed a little op to put it back.

PerfectionistProcrastinator · 05/05/2019 10:38

I’d give it a few days to see if it settles and if no different make an appointment. In my (non professional) opinion it is usually just your body’s reaction to a minor infection.

Wallabyone · 05/05/2019 19:35

Thanks all, appreciate your responses. It's still really sore, as are the piles Sad I will give it a few days and hopefully it'll settle down. Will take some nurofen tonight too.
