WTF has Simon Cowell done to his face?!

Just (been forced to) watch (unfastforwardable) Barclaycard ad. His face is all the wrong shape and filled in in weird places. And the colours are all wrong. He looks like a bloody anaphylactic badger FFS.
Why do people do this? It never looks good.

Generally "work" on one's face isn't an improvement unless you can afford the very best.
And, even then, a lot of those who can afford the best are used to calling the shots and try to push the practitioners into going further than they (the drs etc) would normally think ideal.
A friend is both a plastic (rebuilding faces after medical problems such as cancer) and a cosmetic (face lifts, nose jobs etc) surgeon and has told me about some celebrities who've tried to pressure him into proceedures which he considered unwise and refused to do. Most of them got the work done elsewhere.
No Smile, I'm not going to name names - I like my friend and have no desire to see him struck off.
In my opinion (stressing "my": this is not anything gleaned from friend) both Kylie Minogue and Liz Hurley seem to have had good results from lip enhancements (operations instead of fillers?). They may well have just developed fuller lips but usually lips thin with age.
Some others though do look quite scary after various procedures. And, of course, there are those who look literally unbelievably good for their age. But that's good genes, a healthy lifestyle and "running round after the kids". Of course it is...

I expect Rita Hayworth was actually quite glad to 'lose' her Spanish identity, given that it came from her father who had sexually abused her from a very young age Sad

On a lighter note, I've come to the conclusion that even the 'best' age defying stuff only seems to work for so long. Kylie looked blooming gorgeous and about 25 for about 25 years then suddenly went plastic and puffy looking. Julia Roberts is similar - she hasn't gone 'puffy' but she does now look artificially smooth and sculpted for a woman of her age (not that she's made much secret of her past surgery). Part of me would quite like to know what these people 'really' look like. (Think Melisandre in GoT).

There was a piece on the BBC news yesterday about the original stars from the Kids from Fame tv series reuniting for a show. All the stars seemed to have aged naturally and looked nice, particularly Valerie Landsburg.

Valerie does look lovely but I think she’s had Botox in her unlined and shiny forehead. She’s a good example of how natural cosmetic enhancements can look when done well.

No double standards here - I pointed out a couple of women who've gone down the Cowell route as well as talking about Simon himself.

It's awful and sad when anyone of either sex feels so bad about their own appearance that they butcher themselves like this. And I agree, the medical 'professionals' who take it so far should have their licences removed.

Aren't all doctors supposed to 'Do No Harm'?

Aren't all doctors supposed to 'Do No Harm

A lot of people doing lip fillers, botox and the rest of it aren't doctors though. Personally there is no way on earth I'd be letting a beautician who's done a night course inject anything into my face, but people do.

I think the "waxwork" look of some celebs in their late 40s or 50s is one thing, but the amount of work younger people have is just as shocking. There were pictures of the Little Mix girls when they auditioned for Xfactor and now - and they have transformed themselves into blow up dolls with their fillers and inflated lips. Why are we not telling young women (and men) that they look amazing as they are and not to fill their faces with crap?

FiremanKing · 05/05/2019 08:20

Joan Van Ark born 1943
Michelle Phillips born 1944

Joan has had everything that can possibly be done to her face.

I don’t know if Michelle has had anything done, she was quite wrinkle free in 2010 so maybe has had Botox in the past.

Huge difference in these photos both taken in 2018 of how they look now.

I still would!

I bloody love Simon Cowell

Summersunshine2 · 05/05/2019 08:28

I think it's good to talk about these things as it's so sad that this is the norm for some of the next generation.
My cousin has had lip fillers at 21. They haven't made her anymore beautiful than she was before she had them.
What is this doing to people's health in the short and long term? There must be lots of risks other than looking fake.

HelenaDove · 05/05/2019 16:28

Fireman i remember them both from Knots Landing. It wasnt until years later that i realized Michelle was in the Mamas and the Papas

Talking of adverts i love the Jason Donovan ad for Cadburys Darkmilk The way the dog looks at him at the end........Grin

FiremanKing · 05/05/2019 16:31

@HelenaDove

I used to love Knots Landing!

Jason looks fab. Although it seems such a short time ago he was marrying Charlene!

That’s a fab ad!

Lordamighty · 05/05/2019 16:40

@Summersunshine2 I am really interested in finding a good cosmetic dentist, would you pm the name of the one you used?

HelenaDove · 05/05/2019 16:51
