WTF has Simon Cowell done to his face?!

WineIsMyCarb · 04/05/2019 20:52

Just (been forced to) watch (unfastforwardable) Barclaycard ad. His face is all the wrong shape and filled in in weird places. And the colours are all wrong. He looks like a bloody anaphylactic badger FFS.
Why do people do this? It never looks good.

I’m not knocking this thread but have to say that a previous thread about the discussion of the sudden curvaceous appearance of a Countdown lady was full of complaints about the subject and Mumsnet removed it. Funny that.

HelenaDove · 05/05/2019 00:18

I watch a lot of vintage/retro TV. ( Ive usually got Forces TV or Talking Pictures TV on ) and you DO notice the difference No botox or fillers around in the 60s , 70s , 80s The actors all look normal and age normally.

I think its bloody sad the way it is now.

goldenchicken · 05/05/2019 00:44

@FiremanKing no-one is slating someone ageing or gaining weight or going grey, which are things that people often cannot help. People are (quite rightly in my opinion,) criticising the way celebrities are wrecking their perfectly decent, pleasant NORMAL faces and bodies, by puffing them out with fillers and collagen and botox, which are making them look bizarre, and like wax figures.

In addition, they are making their teeth look plain stupid with wacky brilliant white veneers. As has been said, any surgeons or dentists who do these procedures (whether it's teeth - OR plastic surgery - purely for vanity,) need striking off.

I have known about half a dozen young women who started having botox and collagen in their mid 20s, and by the time they hit their early to mid 30's, they looked 10 years older than their age.

I dislike criticism of people looks, body, face, weight gain, etc, and think it's wrong and unfair. But I reserve the right to slag off people who subject their body and face to ridiculous, damaging, and frankly very unattractive, unnecessary, procedures that make them look bizarre at best; hideous at worst.

Agree.

Me and DH have noticed this too, and we both think it's very sad how some celebrities have wrecked their face now. They very rarely look better, and they NEVER look younger.

HelenaDove · 05/05/2019 00:51

One example Comedian Dave Allen in 1986 A perfectly normal looking 50

HelenaDove · 05/05/2019 00:56

55 year old Edward Woodward when he started doing The Equalizer in 1985

goldenchicken · 05/05/2019 00:59

Wow Helena! They are really handsome aren't they?! Shock

Very attractive... And NATURAL... Smile

HelenaDove · 05/05/2019 01:04

YES Im glad im not the only one who can see it. i love it when men just age naturally . I think both Dave and Edward looked great.

Incidentally Forces TV have been repeating The Equalizer for the past two months. Two more months to go.

FiremanKing · 05/05/2019 01:10

@goldenchicken

My point was that the countdown lady was being discussed because she had obviously stuffed her face with fillers and her breasts and buttocks were dramatically made bigger. Nothing to do with her aging naturally.

This thread is no different in discussing celebrity surgery gone awry.

Yet posters and Mumsnet mods go up in arms when it’s a woman being discussed but allow it when it’s a man.

I think both should be allowed and am pointing out the double standards that mumsnet mods have.

That's fair enough, but that's not what your post near the top of the page said. You said.....

You mentioned nothing about fillers in her breasts and buttocks. You just said posters had said she had gone 'suddenly curvaceous' implying people were saying she had gained weight. Your post mentioned nothing about a woman who had had plastic surgery or fillers.

HelenaDove · 05/05/2019 01:21

Fireman i take it you dont mind grey hair or a bit of weight on a woman then.

goldenchicken · 05/05/2019 01:22

@HelenaDove

Yeah they do!

See also... Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, and Clint Eastwood. All very easy on the eye as they are ageing. Smile

Gotta fly now, so don't think me rude for not posting again tonight. My bed beckons. Smile Night night!

FiremanKing · 05/05/2019 01:31

goldenchicken - I don’t want a telling off by the mods as I’m talking about a removed thread so I chose my words carefully! Sorry for confusion! ‘Suddenly curvaceous’ was not weight gain but breast implants and buttock implants of fat transfer.

@HelenaDove - I’m not objecting to anything! I’m only pointing out that Mumsnet mods don’t allow us to discuss how women celebrities have altered their appearance with plastic surgery etc but happily allow us to discuss men.

I think we should be allowed to discuss both!

Laodamia · 05/05/2019 02:10

FiremanKing, I remember that thread about the Curvaceous Vumman. Like Simon Cowell, her appearance suddenly started to look dramatically different. Maybe she's a MNer (wouldn't surprise me|) and emailed her complaint directly.

FiremanKing · 05/05/2019 02:18

Maybe I shouldn’t have said anything!

Back to celebrities it’s such a shame that they all now have stuff done, even the young ones.

Years ago the odd nose job or hairline shaved/lasered as they got Rita Hayworth to have done was acceptable but they’re nearly all fake.

HelenaDove · 05/05/2019 02:31

Harry Cohn the head of Columbia Pictures was the Weinstein of that day He was a bully who wanted Rita to have that done

What he threatened Sammy Davis Jr and Kim Novak with was horrific.

RubberTreePlant · 05/05/2019 02:35

Grin @ "anaphylactic badger"

HelenaDove · 05/05/2019 02:41

She was originally Rita Cansino.

"Cohn argued that her image was too Mediterranean, which limited her to being cast in "exotic" roles that were fewer in number. He was heard to say her last name sounded too Spanish. Judson acted on Cohn's advice: Rita Cansino became Rita Hayworth when she adopted her mother's maiden name, to the consternation of her father.[14]:36 With a name that emphasized her British-American ancestry, people were more likely to regard her as a classic "American".[3]
Columbia Pictures publicity photograph of Rita Hayworth (1940)

With Cohn and Judson's encouragement, Hayworth changed her hair color to dark red and had electrolysis to raise her hairline and broaden the appearance of her forehead"

JeezOhGeeWhizz · 05/05/2019 02:48

Yep - he's been looking mental for quite a while now. What a shame. In real life, he's supposed to be a really nice guy too.

Seahorseshoe · 05/05/2019 02:58

Nowt wrong with a wrinkle. My husband said "what's he fine to his face!" but when I said the same about Courtney Cox and Sandra Bullock he said they looked "normal" and he honestly believes that.

Yoursilentface · 05/05/2019 02:59

He looks like he's wearing a rubber mask of himself.

I actually think on younger women fillers and botox are aging - because you see they have had then (Jordan, Cheryl) and assume they must be older to have needed them.

Yoursilentface · 05/05/2019 03:00

on younger women

Should have said younger people

Laodamia · 05/05/2019 03:00

Kylie Jenner does not look like a 21yr old.

HelenaDove · 05/05/2019 03:24

Those are the real double standards that are going on @Seahorseshoe

AsleepAllDay · 05/05/2019 05:00

I noticed this too, it's so creepy! He looks like an owl when he widens his eyes

Namaste6 · 05/05/2019 06:16

I nearly spat my wine back in the glass when I saw this ad the other night. Holy mother of god, what was he thinking.
