My DH and myself have been given the wonderful gift of a week to go away on holiday without our kids. But we have no idea where to go! We have narrowed it down to certain criteria. But if i'm honest, I am terrified of travelling abroad. I get scared of the idea of noisy neighbours spoiling our holiday, we normally pick uk based self catering cottages just so I can minimise this. I am trying to confront this by making myself go abroad and stay in a hotel or complex. Please can you help by suggesting some places that will,be relaxing and less likely to be major party locations.

Criteria:

  • by the beach
  • has pools
  • half board / full board or all inclusive
  • has aircon
  • maybe some sporting activities (snorkelling, gym etc)
  • spa would be excellent

We have no clue where to go! Please help!

Barcelo Hotel at Isla Canela. Lovely hotel, great food, beautiful beach across the road and loads of water sports. Amazing place!

The body holiday in St Lucia, do as much or as little as you like. Great food, relaxed on the beach perfect for a week away.

Go for an adults only hotel. We've had some brilliant, relaxing holidays. None were party hotels. TUI Sensimar are all adult only if you want a package deal. We enjoyed Kolocep, Croatia and Sorrento. Madeira was lovely and doesn't attract party types.

These are exactly what I need, I'd love to go to St Lucia but I think it's a bit far for a week? How long is the flight?

What is your budget?

Hezz · 04/05/2019 15:51

Sensimar Oceanis in Kos.

Adults only and all inclusive with the best spa I've ever been in. (I've been in lots)

widgetbeana · 04/05/2019 15:51

Budget is approx £800 per person, inc flights, could stretch a bit more if it was perfect!

Turkey. Kusadasi, a resort called sun connect atlantique, has EVERYTHING in your criteria :)

widgetbeana · 04/05/2019 15:56

Oh thanks I'm looking them all up now. And actually smiling, normally I get so anxious think8ng about party animal holiday makers.

The pool side in the atlantique

You could always go somewhere quiet abroad. It isn't all full of rowdy party animals.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 04/05/2019 16:12

You can go with Tui

widgetbeana · 04/05/2019 16:19

Thanks so so much, these look great.

I know not everywhere is crazy busy, but it's knowing how to find he right places. The internet doesn't help!

We went on the Dreamliner to Kos which was actually quite roomy. Also had a day trip to Turkey, was about 40 minutes on the ferry I think.

Deffo low key resort but only a ten minute bus trip to Kos Town for shopping etc.

We've been a couple of times, I think it's usually around £800 each.

Have fun looking. The Sensimar in Rhodes is lovely too. It's called the Atlantic I think.

Just for ideas. Loads of great holidays if you click 'beach holidays'. I usually use tripadvisor to check out the hotels before I book.

I would second Sorrento . We went there for our honeymoon and it's beautiful , beachy lovely restaurants but not a party place

widgetbeana · 04/05/2019 20:29

Thanks,

Now I have a curve ball to add. My parents (the kind babysitters) have said they would prefer to come on October rather than June! Will these places still be warm enough to enjoy in October?

pineapplepatty · 04/05/2019 23:44

I've been to Rhodes in October and it was 28' and lovely.

Cyberworrier · 05/05/2019 00:09

Crete is lovely in October!

RomaineCalm · 05/05/2019 00:15

TUI Sensatori are fantastic hotels. Relaxed, definitely not 'party places' but good food, nice pools, a spa and sports facilities.

Turkey, Rhodes, Ibiza Sensatoris are all worth looking at.

junebirthdaygirl · 05/05/2019 08:07

I have been on a sun holiday every year for at least the last 30 and never once had an issue with loud, rude holidaymakers. So that's a needless worry. There are probably a few places you should avoid but especially in October a lot of places will be quieter.

These hotels have spas and look lovely. They're in the Canary Islands, so you should get decent weather when ever you go. Alternatively, have you looked at Cape Verde?

BarbaraofSevillle · 05/05/2019 08:24

Canaries will be hot in October. Malta, Gozo, Cyprus, Greece also probably so, although you often get a short period of less good weather in the Med some time between mid September and mid October before it improves for a last hurrah before winter, so if you're unlucky, this could coincide with your holiday.

I'd go B&B in a nice adults only hotel in the Canaries such as this one and then you can go out and about for lunch and dinner if you want to, or eat in the hotel.
