Nipple piercing

I'm planning to get my nipples pierced this weekend. I've wanted to do it for years, but then ds3 was a surprise addition to the family so I spent 3 years feeding him and now that he's been weaned over a year and I have been sterilised and can be sure there will be no more babies I feel like I can finally go for it.

I'm going to a really good studio who have already happily discussed jewellery with me by email, whose website is excellent and focussed on health and safety and the importance of choice and high standards and aftercare. My dh is very much "your body, do whatever makes you happy, I love you without piercings and I will love you with them". I'm aware it could hurt quite a bit and that they will be sore for a while afterwards and that full healing takes ages. I've made sure the studio knows I have a nickel allergy that is bad enough that if there is nickel in a bra clasp I will be red and swollen at the site within an hour of wearing it and have been totally reassured by their explanation of the jewellery they use. I know I will probably want to wear a crop top or sports bra or similar at night for a while after they're done.

Is there anything I have not thought about that I should? If you have had this done, how much would you say it hurt? How long did it take for them to not be too painful to touch afterwards?

I've had mine done, both more than once as Iv changed my mind over the years.

It's not painful, it's a strange pulling feeling and it's over so quickly, I didn't find it too painful after just cleaned with cooled boiled water/salt twice a day and Iv always healed really quickly too

Knickersononeshead · 04/05/2019 12:50

Just keep up with the salt water cleaning and you'll be fine. Had both of mine done a couple of times in the past and can't say they hurt whist being pierced or afterwards to be honest.

Really not that painful at all, wear a sensible bra not a tight one / push up type one or one that might fall down or catch like an ill fitting strapless one.

Oh that's all very reassuring, thank you :) I'm so excited! As a young woman I had quite a few piercings and now all I ever wear is one set of earrings so I can't wait to have some more interesting stuff again.

I had mine done and I took them out a few months ago, after almost 18 months. They just wouldn’t heal properly at all.

They were done correctly with titanium bars, I had them reduced after a couple of weeks because they were too long and it was causing too much movement around the piercing.

You have to be absolutely religious about cleaning them properly. I can’t stress this enough. They aren’t like other piercings where you can do some cursory cleaning at the beginning and forget about it. These take lots of work.

It can take up to a year to fully heal, sometimes 18months. I took mine out at the 18mo point as I would still get ‘crusties’ (which is normal but a bit grim) and I couldn’t touch them without almost having some kind of trauma for a few days afterwards.

I would definitely have them done in the summer though - mine were done in the freezing cold weather and the nipple erections immediately after were agony!

They looked great but it was a constant faff and I wasn’t sad to take them out in the end.

Iv had both of mine done separately for q for 18ish and the other 17ish years

Neither hurt particularly (no worse than ears) I didn't need a special bra and they weren't that painful in the days week after either.

I had one that just wouldn't heal properly until I put a plastic (like the ones you can use for X-rays) bar in to allow it to settle.

icannotremember · 04/05/2019 16:36

The place I'm going to does offer the plastic bars if needed and they have a good aftercare reputation so if healing doesn't seem to be going well I'll go back to them. It sounds as if there's a bit of luck involved- I'll definitely take care of them properly but will bear in mind that some people find they never settle at all.

It bloody hurts! I only had one pierced. Thankfully, the pain is very quick so when it becomes unbearable it is over. It didn't hurt after..

About two years later it still hasn't healed that well. They are hard to heal. It still gets sore at times.

icannotremember · 06/05/2019 13:12

Update! I had them done almost an hour ago and it was totally fine. First one less painful than the second but neither worthy of more than a deep breath. Got some smooth t shirt bras to keep them protected for a while and can go back any time for aftercare if needed. Seriously, I am astounded at how simple it all was :)

Omfg it hurts! I had both of mine done some years ago. Loved the look, but took them out because I had a couple of close calls with almost ripping them out, and also they got in the way during more vigorous sex...

Ninkaninus · 06/05/2019 13:21

Oh good I’m glad it didn’t hurt! Congrats! I loved mine, I still miss them sometimes.

JudgeRindersMinder · 06/05/2019 13:27

Great that you had them done. I had one done a good few years ago, but have let it close, I’m planning on getting it re pierced

Ninkaninus · 06/05/2019 13:30

Didn’t make it clear, I did keep mine in for three or four years...

icannotremember · 06/05/2019 13:52

I've wanted them done for so so long, I'm really happy that I've finally done it! I imagine they will hurt more later on than they do right now but it's not the horrible pain I was fearing. What I am fearing is the impact of ds3's ferocious hugs so I think I will be bra-d up 24/7 for a while!

OP posts:
Ninkaninus · 06/05/2019 16:35

Oh yes, hugs will probably have to be less squashy for a while...

Congratulations, and enjoy!

Any update op? Did they heal? Keep them in?
