House hunting- anyone else really struggling? Thinking of putting letters through doors now?

Moving house as recently moved dd to different primary school so need to be nearby to get younger sibling in.
Max budget 310k there seems to be lots under 260k which are too small and loads over 325k but this middle bit not so much 😩
I’ve been looking for a couple of month and need to move ASAP really but definitely by feb.
Spoke to all the agents, thinking of just posting letters through doors now?
Any advice?!

We had friends who did that and it worked for them! I say give it a try, it can't hurt.

Other option I guess is to rent for a while - sell your place, rent in the right area and wait for the property to come on the market. It would out you in a strong negotiating position as a buyer with no chain.

Market is dead, anyone who’s not desperate to move won’t bother for fear of a lingering property. Letters could definitely work!

Worked for my sister.

we get regular approaches about our house. The a4 handwritten one in fountain pen is the only 1 I recall in detail. Mostly they are house hunting agencies or just email addresses/numbers. Amuses me a bit as I don't know have they can possibly have an idea of what our house would sell for- so it is quite speculative.

I'm tempted to do this in my village! Someone put one through ours and we showed them round but it was too small I know that's why I want to move!
